The Spurs striker notched 21 goals during the 2014-15 Premier League season, ascending to Mauricio Pochettino's first team after impressing in the Europa League. He even captained the club against Burnley and scored within minutes of entering the field on his England debut. As far as breakout seasons go, Kane's ranks among the best.

United boss Louis van Gaal is in desperate need of a prolific striker. The Radamel Falcao loan experiment failed miserably, while Robin van Persie has struggled to replicate his 2012-13 form across the last two terms.
Wayne Rooney was deployed in midfield for much of the recently concluded campaign despite showing quality in front of goal when pushed into his favoured striking position. Youngster James Wilson is too raw to rely on just yet, although he has the attributes Van Gaal desperately needs up top.
The Dutchman should be looking to land a striker who can burst beyond the opposition's defence, stretching play. He should be able to hold the ball up and distribute to United's wide men before bombing into the box to finish off moves. Kane fits the bill, but he's an expensive and risky investment if he's to cost around £45 million, per Parry.

Adding to United's creative ranks behind the striker will help the side's production. Tancredi Palmeri of beIN Sports believes a bid for Lazio's Felipe Anderson is imminent:
Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t Rhys Turrell of the Daily Star) has also suggested United will move for Stefan de Vrij, the Italian club's improving centre-back. Both would be quality additions to the squad—they enjoyed excellent 14-15 seasons, are young and ready to take the step toward Champions League football—and could help flesh out United's numbers across four competitions next season.
B/R UK's Andy Brassell looked at potential alternatives for the club:
As noted by Parry, Spurs have vowed to "reject all approaches" for Kane. However, chairman Daniel Levy caved when Luka Modric and Gareth Bale were subject to bids from Real Madrid, and there's nothing to say he won't do the same again. United would have to stump up a considerable amount to lure Kane, though, that's for sure.
Anderson and De Vrij would be smart investments, players who would have plenty of time to develop into club stars. It's likely their valuations will go up over time, so Van Gaal should tie them up quickly. Adding any of the three aforementioned targets to the signing of Memphis Depay would be an excellent start to the summer for the transitioning team.
