Cassius Winston to Michigan State: Spartans Land 4-Star PG Prospect
Michigan State's backcourt just got a whole lot better. Cassius Winston, a 4-star point guard prospect, committed to the Spartans on Friday, per Jeff Borzello of ESPN.com.
The Detroit native ranks second in the state of Michigan, fifth nationally among point guards and No. 29 out of all prospects in the United States, according to 247Sports.
Winston received offers from Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa State, Marquette and Pittsburgh.

At 6'0", 165 pounds, Winston recorded 25.9 points per game last season at University of Detroit Jesuit High School. In May, Winston fractured his wrist and had a cast on it for five weeks, according to Travis Hines of the Ames Tribune (via the Detroit Free Press).
Playing AAU ball at The Family as well, Winston possesses quick feet and great ball-handling skills, as shown by Prep Hoops TV's look at his performance in the Storm Classic.
He is also capable of shooting the three and has the ability to take over a game, something Borzello observed:
His ability to break down the game and dissect the opposition has been a calling card for him and is something that gets him plenty of attention, as Winston told Mick McCabe of the Detroit Free Press.
"I wouldn't say I see everything, but I do see a lot of things. I see a lot of things develop before they happen. Sometimes that messes me up, because sometimes it doesn't happen, so I'm stuck. But a lot of time it happens, and it looks like I made a miraculous pass or something like that, but I just put the ball in the right spot at the right time.
"
With Winston's build and style of play in how he runs the floor, he will fit perfectly in head coach Tom Izzo's team-first system as he looks to make a name for himself in the Big 10.
