Nick AkermanJun 10, 2015

Premier League sides have confirmed which players they will retain and release ahead of the 2015-16 season.

The Mirror provided the full list of stars who are currently scheduled to remain with their current clubs, although this could change throughout the upcoming transfer window. The Premier League also makes it clear those currently listed to depart may remain with their current sides:

Working through the list, a number of names stand out at the elite clubs. In March, Matt Morlidge of MailOnline reported Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has suffered 42 injuries in nine years at the Emirates Stadium.

The 29-year-old made a single Capital One Cup appearance for the Gunners during 2014-15 and is currently due to depart when his contract expires at the end of the month. The Telegraph (h/t Jamie Orr of the Independent) previously suggested he could be handed a pay-as-you-play deal to continue in north London.

Japanese speedster Ryo Miyaichi, who spent the recently concluded season toiling on-loan in FC Twente's reserves, is also yet to ink a new deal.

The Gunners may be interested to see Ron Vlaar is currently scheduled to leave Aston Villa. He has been touted as a possible centre-back reinforcement for Arsene Wenger, as reported by Charles Perrin of the Express.

As expected, Didier Drogba is marked as leaving Chelsea. Everton boss Roberto Martinez may also be looking to discard experience, with ageing centre-backs Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz among those available for free transfers.

Across Stanley Park, it's been known for some time that Steven Gerrard is walking away from Liverpool to join Los Angeles Galaxy. Right-back Glen Johnson and second-choice goalkeeper Brad Jones are still to extend their tenures at Anfield.

Manchester City's annual turnover of players looks set to continue with John Guidetti and Micah Richards now available on frees. Frank Lampard leaves to finally begin his career with New York City after joining their sister club on loan during 2014-15.

Louis van Gaal has already moved Tom Cleverley from Manchester United to Everton as he opens up squad space for the Red Devils' Champions League return. Fourth-choice goalkeeper Ben Amos is yet to commit his future to the Theatre of Dreams.

Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail also provided comment on once-exciting youngster Tom Thorpe:

Elsewhere, Newcastle United will be waving goodbye to young stopper Jak Alnwick if he doesn't sign an extension. He made six appearances for the Magpies during an early-season goalkeeping crisis at St. James' Park.

Clubs looking to snap up some proven squad depth may opt to tempt West Bromwich Albion's Gareth McAuley and Youssouf Mulumbu, while Sunderland's Wes Brown is also yet to decide his next move. West Ham's Carlton Cole and Jussi Jaaskelainen may capture the eyes of promoted clubs who are looking to land experience.

As noted above, any player currently listed as leaving could secure a new contract at any moment. What's apparent, though, is that a wealth of useful players are heading toward the final weeks of their current contracts. The released list may spark rival teams into life.
