Most Dramatic Moments of the Week
This was easily one of the most unique and exciting weeks in sports in a long time, with drama coming from all different places.
The NBA Finals and Stanley Cup Final dominated headlines as usual with a number of great games, but other sports like baseball, soccer and horse racing also commanded attention throughout the week.
Here are the most dramatic moments in sports from the past week.
Lightning Hold off 'Hawks in Game 2
1 of 8After the Chicago Blackhawks got a big Game 1 victory, the Tampa Bay Lightning knew they needed to respond in Game 2.
And despite undergoing multiple goalie changes as starter Ben Bishop dealt with an unknown ailment, the Lightning were able to respond in a big way.
They were up 3-2 before Brent Seabrook tied it early in the third period, but were able to come back roughly five minutes later with a goal of their own from Jason Garrison. Tampa Bay held off Chicago in the final 10 minutes to escape with a 4-3 win that evened the series.
Cleveland-Golden State Game 2 Overtime
2 of 8The Cleveland Cavaliers came up just short in Game 1 against the Golden State Warriors, and it was evident that they were not going to let that happen again.
The Cavs, led by an amazing triple-double performance from LeBron James, scrapped their way to a small lead at the end of regulation before Steph Curry tied it with roughly seven seconds to play, sending the two sides into another overtime battle.
But in stark contrast to overtime in Game 1, Cleveland shot the ball well, defended well and stayed with the Warriors before Matthew Dellavedova hit late free throws to give his team the win and tie the series 1-1.
Heston Throws No-Hitter
3 of 8The San Francisco Giants seem to have a knack for throwing no-hitters.
Matt Cain threw one in 2012, and Tim Lincecum threw one in both 2013 and 2014. This year, it was Chris Heston's turn.
The 27-year-old rookie turned in the performance of his lifetime on Tuesday night, throwing a bunch of sinkers and keeping the New York Mets off balance en route to the no-no.
He did hit three batters, surprisingly, including one in the ninth inning. But he was able to keep his composure and get the final outs to make history.
Tampa Bay Wins Game 3 Late
4 of 8The Chicago Blackhawks and Tampa Bay Lightning were neck and neck for much of Monday night's Game 3, and it wasn't until the very end until one team broke ahead.
Tampa Bay opened the scoring early in the first period, but Chicago tied it up less than 10 minutes later. Then when Chicago pulled ahead 2-1 early in the third period, the Lightning responded a mere 13 seconds later.
Both sides had a flurry of chances for the next 12 minutes, and both goalies were spectacular while keeping their respective teams in the game.
But, finally, a brilliant pass from Victor Hedman was redirected by Cedric Paquette into the back of the net and the Lightning hung on to the win to push ahead in the series 2-1.
American Pharaoh Wins Triple Crown
5 of 8Affirmed won the Triple Crown in 1978, becoming the 11th horse to do so at that point. Not a single horse had been able to replicate that achievement until last weekend.
An incredible 13 horses had won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes only to come to Belmont and lose in their bid for the elusive Triple Crown. But American Pharoah would not be denied history.
The horse, ridden by jockey Victor Espinoza, continued his dominating streak and absolutely blew away the field, beating Frosted by five lengths en route to winning the race and the Triple Crown.
Cavs Hold off Warriors in Game 3
6 of 8In another game for the ages, LeBron James scored 40 points and Matthew Dellavedova added 20 as the Cleveland Cavaliers escaped with a huge win over the Golden State Warriors in Game 3.
Steph Curry had another tough night, and the Cavaliers looked to be in command in the second and third quarters, holding as big as a 20-point lead late in the third.
But the Warriors stormed back, closing the gap to just a few points in the fourth quarter, and seemed to have that comeback magic needed to pull it off.
LeBron and Dellavedova had other ideas, as they battled to hold onto the lead and helped force a few turnovers in the final minute to escape with the 96-91 win and take the series lead.
Barcelona Wins Champions League
7 of 8Barcelona and Juventus faced off on Saturday to determine the winner of the Champions League, and Barca's incredible front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar helped lead the Catalonian side to victory.
The first goal came in just the fourth minute, after some beautiful team passing from Barcelona that led to an Ivan Rakitic one-timer from about eight yards out.
After a number of great chances from both teams, Alvaro Morata tied it in the 55th minute, giving Juventus a new energy that carried them for at least another 10 minutes or so.
But then Suarez caught a lucky bounce on his foot and finished with ease in the 69th minute to push Barcelona in front 2-1. Neymar would add an insurance marker in extra time and Barcelona became champions again.
Chicago Ties Series 2-2
8 of 8The Stanley Cup Final between the Chicago Blackhawks and Tampa Bay Lightning has been a seesaw affair from the very beginning, and Game 4 was no different.
Both teams played extremely well on Wednesday night, and rookie Andrei Vasilevskiy filled in admirably between the pipes for Tampa Bay.
The first goal wasn't scored until almost 27 minutes into the game, when Jonathan Toews put his team ahead. But as has been tradition in this series, Tampa Bay responded with a goal just a few minutes later.
Brandon Saad broke the tie at 6:22 of the third period, and Chicago clamped down on defense, withstanding a barrage of chances from the Lightning to tie the series 2-2.
