Stanley Cup Final 2015: Odds, Lines, Prediction for Lightning vs. Blackhawks

Joe PantornoJun 10, 2015

It seems that youthful vitality is trumping experience in the 2015 Stanley Cup Final, as the Tampa Bay Lightning have seized a 2-1 series lead after a 3-2 Game 3 victory over the Blackhawks in Chicago.

With Game 4 at the United Center on Wednesday, June 10, the Lightning have a chance to gut the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup hopes and shift the series back to Tampa with a chance to raise the Cup.

Odds Shark, though, believes the Blackhawks will defend their turf well, citing them as the favorites to take Game 4.

The Blackhawks are no strangers to playoff comebacks.

In their Stanley Cup-winning season in 2012-13, Chicago overcame a 3-1 series deficit in the second round against the Detroit Red Wings and a 3-2 hole in the Stanley Cup Final against the Boston Bruins. Against the St. Louis Blues in the first round of the 2013-14 playoffs, they won four straight after going down 2-0.

In this season's Western Conference Finals, the Anaheim Ducks had a 3-2 series lead only to be beaten in Chicago in Game 6 and lose Game 7 at home to the tested Blackhawks.

Chicago captain Jonathan Toews discussed his team's ability to persevere, via NHL.com's Corey Masisak:

"

I think maybe it's part knowing what we're up against, part just us raising our game, getting better and better as the series go along. Obviously we don't draw it up in some situations when we get down in a series; it's not part of the plan. But I think we have confidence when we get in those situations that we can take it one game at a time, focus on the next game, continue to put pressure on the other team.

"

But it's stars like Toews, who has been shut down so far in this series, who will need all the help possible from coaching to get them started.

Toews has one assist in the series' first three games. Obviously one of Chicago's best players, he is receiving plenty of attention from Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman.

He has also been hassled by the Lightning's third line of Cedric Paquette, Ryan Callahan and JT Brownespecially Paquette, according to the Canadian's Stephen Whyno:

Joel Quenville has proven time and time again that he is one of the best coaches in the NHL, so adjustments should be made give his players a better grasp on this series.

If there is ever a team to turn around a trailing series, it's the Blackhawks, who will take Game 4 by a score of 5-3.
