Stanley Cup Final 2015: Game 3 Odds, Projections for Lightning vs. Blackhawks

Joe PantornoJun 7, 2015

The 2015 Stanley Cup Finals are all knotted up at one after the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 in Game 2.

It is the third time this postseason that the Lightning have dropped Game 1 of a series and taken the proceeding game.

And what a huge win it was. A second consecutive loss at home would have spelled the end of the series with the final moving to the United Center in Chicago. But after two closely contested games that were decided in the third period, this year's Stanley Cup Final will not be short of nail-biting moments.

Here's a look ahead at Game 3 and what to look for in Chicago.

Game 3 Schedule and TV Listing

When: United Center, Chicago, Illinois

When: Monday, June 8, 8 p.m. ET

Watch: NBC Sports Network

Live Stream: NBC Sports Live Extra

Early Odds Like Tampa Bay

According to OddsShark.com, the Lightning are early 10-13 favorites looking toward Monday. The Blackhawks are 6-5 underdogs.

Both the Lightning and the Blackhawks have won two out of three Game 3's during these playoffs, and winning Game 3 in the Final is important.

In NHL history, the team that has won Game 3 after splitting the first two has gone on to win the Stanley Cup 21 of 25 times.

Projections

Ben Will Be Back

After leaving the ice twice during the third period, Ben Bishop raised plenty of eyebrows and inquiries into the status of the Lightning goaltender.

Some, like Renaud Lavoie, thought it might be a knee after Bishop was hit on Brent Seabrook's tying goal:

Some think it might have been something else.

Backup Andrei Vasilveskiy turned out to play the hero, thwarting a Blackhawks blitzkrieg in the game's final five minutes. It is the first time a goaltender has picked up a win in relief in a Stanley Cup Final game since Frank Pietrangelo of the Pittsburgh Penguins did it in 1991.

Expect Bishop to be back. The reason or injury seemed minor enough where he could skate and walk to the locker room under his own will. He might need a day to rest up, but he is too good on the road to lose.

During these playoffs, Bishop is 7-3 with a 1.45 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage.

Seabrook Strong

Brent Seabrook scored his seventh goal of the postseason in the Blackhawks' Game 2 loss. He is currently tied with Steven Stamkos in goals scored.

Stamkos is a winger. Seabrook is a defenseman.

He ranks third on the Blackhawks in goals only behind Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. His aggressive offensive play opens up options for Chicago in the offensive zone and spreads out the defense.

Seabrook has taken only 37 attempts to get those seven goals. His shot selection has been spot-on this postseason. Expect the Blackhawks to come out flying to start Game 3, and expect Seabrook to be launching a few more shots from the point.
