Top 5 Moments from Bayern Munich's 2014/15 Bundesliga Season
Well, what a season it has been. For Bayern Munich fans there have been so many highs and a number of particular lows over the past eight months, with a Bundesliga trophy to their name for the 25th time in their club's history.
Wrapping up the league championship and another strong run in the Champions League has undoubtedly left a whole back catalogue of games and memories to file through over the course of the summer offseason.
Here are the top five moments for Bayern fans to consider from the season that just was.
Bayern 2-1 Wolfsburg
1 of 5
Although this game may not have been too significant at the time, many will look back on this season and struggle to sum it up without first mentioning Bayern's very first game of the Bundesliga campaign against Wolfsburg.
The Wolves have often flattered to deceive in recent years, but in this opening game we saw exactly what Dieter Hecking's newly forged side had to offer in terms of a title race for the coming season.
Fortunately for the now-crowned champions it was a match in which early goals from Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben proved enough to see off these new challengers.
Roma 1-7 Bayern Munich
2 of 5
The next game on our commemorative slideshow of Bayern's season must undoubtedly be the thumping Pep Guardiola's team handed out to Italian giants Roma in the Champions League.
In a match that many predicted would bring Bayern to meet their match on the European stage, Guardiola's team thoroughly proved their doubters wrong. This result and scoreline will live long in the memory of joyous Bayern fans and bitter followers of the Rome side.
Bayern Munich 2-1 Borussia Dortmund
3 of 5
Borussia Dortmund may not have been the tricky opponents they once were for Bayern this season, but that doesn't mean fans didn't enjoy beating them just as much.
The visitors took the lead through a Marco Reus header in the first half, but fans will fondly remember the manner in which Bayern responded with two goals of their own. One of which coming from former Dortmund star Robert Lewandowski, before Robben grabbed the winner in the 85th minute.
The perfect comeback from perhaps the most hurtful means.
Bayern 6-1 Porto
4 of 5
In a similar manner to the previously mentioned Roma game, Bayern's home clash with Porto in the quarter-finals of the Champions League was a game in which a number of the club's doubters were forced to reevaluate their opinions.
Bayern had just lost the first leg 3-1 and needed a strong performance to even consider qualifying for the semi-finals. Fortunately, such a result was well and truly on its way.
Through goals from Thiago Alcantara, Jerome Boateng, Thomas Muller, Xabi Alonso and two from Lewandowski, Guardiola's side ran out 6-1 winners and sent out a comprehensive message to the rest of Europe: Watch out.
Bayern Munich 2-0 Mainz
5 of 5
OK, we'll be honest: Not many people are going to remember what actually happened over the course of the 90 minutes in this game.
Lewandowski scored on the 25th minute, Bastian Schweinsteiger scored just before half-time and, with Mainz knowing that they were already missing out on Europa League football, this game was the very definition of a dead rubber.
Yet, what followed was outstanding. A whole city came together, and over the course of the remaining day Bayern celebrated their 25th league title and third consecutive trophy in a row.
Perhaps not the best game of the season but a day that Bayern fans will remember fondly for years to come.
