NCAA Baseball Super Regionals 2015: Live Stream, TV Info for Weekend Matchups
Sixteen teams now find themselves two wins away from the 2015 College World Series after the regional round wrapped up at the NCAA men's baseball tournament.
The super regionals are set to begin Friday, June 5, and run through Sunday, June 8, if need be. At the time of this writing, the full schedule and viewing information has yet to be released. The broadcast schedule on NCAA.com will update when the details are announced.
Here's what we do know: WatchESPN will be live streaming every super regional game. In addition, these will be the eight super regional matchups and locations:
| Charlottesville | Virginia Cavaliers | Maryland Terrapins |
| Fayetteville | Arkansas Razorbacks | Missouri State Bears |
| Coral Gables | Miami Hurricanes | VCU Rams |
| Gainesville | Florida Gators | Florida State Seminoles |
| Baton Rouge | LSU Tigers | Louisiana–Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns |
| Fort Worth | Texas A&M Aggies | TCU Horned Frogs |
| Champaign | Illinois Fighting Illini | Vanderbilt Commodores |
| Louisville | Louisville Cardinals | Cal State Fullerton Titans |
The biggest surprise of the regional round was the UCLA Bruins' exit. The Pac-12 champions entered the tournament No. 2 in the RPI, D1Baseball.com's Top 25 and Baseball America's list of top schools, to name a few.
None of that helped UCLA as it bowed out at the hands of the Maryland Terrapins late Monday night. CBS Sports' Sam Vecenie joked that the sports gods were exacting their karmic retribution after the Bruins basketball team had its fair share of luck during the 2015 NCAA tournament:
Having UCLA out of the way only makes the road to a national title easier for the LSU Tigers, who have to be considered the favorites at this stage. They face off with the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns in the super regional.
LSU swept the regional round and continue to have one of the most balanced teams in the country. The Tigers rank 10th in team earned run average (2.84) and ninth in hits allowed per nine innings (7.61), while also boasting an offense that ranks third in batting average (.319) and 15th in runs per game (7.0).
Something to follow regarding LSU is how head coach Paul Mainieri handles his pitching staff. He made no secret of the fact that he was upset with how the NCAA pushed back the Baton Rouge regional championship from Sunday night to Monday.
"We’re still not real happy about what happened because it can affect us down the road with the shorter rest of the super regional," Mainieri said, per Ross Dellenger of The Baton Rouge Advocate. "That was my biggest concern quite frankly."

Dellenger noted that Tigers starter Jared Poche, who got the win Monday, will now have one less day of rest ahead of his next start, which will likely be in the second game against Louisiana-Lafayette.
That may seem like a minor contrivance, but in a best-of-three series, the margin for error is much smaller. Maybe Poche has a bad start, pushing LSU to a decisive third game or eliminating the team altogether.
Of course, you can't mention the Tigers without discussing the last team to beat them: the Florida Gators.
Kevin O'Sullivan's team gets Florida State in the super regional, which is a pretty rough draw considering the Seminoles are a top-10 team in more than a few sets of rankings.
However, FSU might run into trouble with its pitching staff. The 'Noles are 74th in ERA (3.70) and 85th in hits allowed per nine innings (8.76).
Six different Gators hitters who started 50 games this year are batting .290 or higher. Not to mention catcher JJ Schwarz has been on a tear since the regular season wrapped up, as Nick de la Torre of Gator Country noted:
The freshman is also a deep thinker:
Considering UCLA was the only national seed that failed to make it past the regional round, the super regional field remains pretty stacked. However, crazy things can happen in a short series. All it takes is a few things to go wrong in a close game, and an entire season of strong play is erased in a matter of days.
The Bruins' exit should serve as a warning for the remaining seven national seeds.
