Taylor Pleads Not Guilty to Battery Charge

Taylor pleaded not guilty to a 2nd Degree Battery charge, per Scott Inman of KATV in Arkansas.
According to the Associated Press, Taylor surrendered on May 30 and was booked into the Pulaski County jail after being accused of hitting a resident at a rehabilitation center:
"Boxer Jermain Taylor has been ordered back to jail and must have a new mental exam.
A judge in Pulaski County issued the orders during a hearing Friday after Taylor surrendered on a second-degree battery charge, based on an allegation that he hit a resident of the treatment center where he's been since March.
"
Per TMZ Sports, the alleged incident occurred May 13. Taylor "allegedly attacked another patient at a rehab facility in Little Rock … knocking the man to the floor."
TMZ also passed along pictures reported to be of the alleged victim after the attack (NSFW WARNING: Graphic Content).
In March, Taylor was sent to the rehab center following a stint in a private lockdown hospital, where he was undergoing a "physical and mental evaluation" after being arrested two different times in a six-month span on shooting-related charges, per Gavin Lesnick of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
Taylor, 36, last fought in April 2014 when he defeated Sam Soliman to win the IBF middleweight title. He has a career record of 33-4-1 and won a bronze medal in the light middleweight division at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
