Rory McIlroy Teams Up with Cancer Fund for Children to Design His Golf Shoes
Rory McIlroy seems to be an even better person than he is an athlete, and that's saying something.
In each round of the Irish Open, which is set to begin Thursday, the world's top golfer will rock a different pair of shoes that children whose lives have been "impacted by cancer" designed, according to Nike.
The four designs were created during a weekend that the Cancer Fund for Children in Northern Ireland sponsored. Each child received their own personalized pair of Lunar Control 3 shoes.
They were also available for sale through NIKEiD, with a portion of the proceeds going toward The Rory Foundation. Here's what McIlroy had to say about this project:
"I'm delighted that the young people associated with the Cancer Fund for Children got to design my shoes. The shoes are really unique with some crazy designs. The Irish Open is going to be a very special event for golf and my Foundation and I am excited to compete in them this week.
