NASCAR at Kansas 2015 Qualifying Results: Race Order, Final Times and Reaction
On the heels of NASCAR's SpongeBob Squarepants 400 on Saturday at Kansas Speedway, drivers went through qualifying Friday to determine the order they will run. Joey Logano keeps his stellar 2015 season going after taking the pole with a time of 28.067 seconds.
The 24-year-old Logano, who became the second-youngest winner of the Daytona 500 in February, made history as the youngest pole winner at Kansas Speedway, per NASCAR Stats:

After Logano clinched the pole for Saturday's race, NASCAR tweeted out a video of him celebrating with his team:
Logano is still seeking his second win of the season after his opening triumph at Daytona, but he's remained steady, putting five top-five finishes on his resume. This qualifying run gives him four pole positions in 2015, per Kentucky Speedway:
Last year, Logano finished fourth at this track. He is feeling good after getting the pole, offering a simple tweet detailing his excitement:
His career has been a steady progression, going from 24th in the points chase four years ago into the top 10 in 2013 to currently sitting fourth after 10 races. He's going to win a Sprint Cup championship eventually, with 2015 looking very good so far.
However, Logano's competition isn't going away quietly.
Kevin Harvick continues to impress this year. The current points leader made it to the final round of qualifying and wound up getting the sixth overall spot, thanks to a time of 28.228 seconds.
According to a practice report from NASCAR.com, Harvick was setting the pace early on Friday before qualifying began with a lap speed of 190.772 miles per hour and did it in "overcast conditions." Starting outside the top five isn't going to affect the 39-year-old.
In the same report, Jeff Gordon wasn't quickly getting around the track, recording the 21st-fastest time in practice. That changed for the No. 24 car once qualifying began, as Gordon went around the track in 28.229 seconds during the second round.
In the final round, Gordon did slide down to 11th place with a lap time of 28.436 seconds. Per 3M Racing, Gordon is seeking his fourth career victory at Kansas Speedway:
Gordon will also be looking for his second consecutive win at this event, which was previously called the 5-Hour Energy 400 before SpongeBob took over.
Many notable drivers finished outside the top 12, including Dale Earnhardt Jr. (17th) and Jimmie Johnson (19th). Earnhardt is seeking his second straight victory, coming off an emotional win at Talladega last weekend.
Johnson is locked in a battle with Harvick for most victories in 2015. They have each captured two checkered flags thus far, though Harvick has the edge in overall points, thanks to one more top-five finish and two more top-10 finishes.
The field at Kansas is loaded with most of the top contenders getting a solid starting spot behind Logano. Gordon has the momentum in his favor after winning last year and owning three career wins on this track, but with Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. in the top six, it's anybody's race on Saturday under the lights.
