Keith Jardine Does Have a Personality and I Love It!

Dorothy WillisAug 27, 2009

Recently in an article where I was discussing Keith Jardine, a comment was left that "he needs to get a personality."

Naturally, because I consider Keith "one of my FaceBook friends," I have taken exception to that.

True, Keith does not go out and wreck cars, fight in bars, get caught spray painting National Monuments, or create incidents of domestic abuse, mayhem, or battery.

He tends to be a non-violent type of introspective loner who loves to read books.

Still he lives on the edge of the wild side just because he is a MMA fighter, and also rides a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

That alone would give him outlaw status in the Willis gang's estimation.

His looks also place him on the wilder side of "normal."

The bald hair and scraggly beard, unruly, multicolored chin hair that has a distinct mind of its own, give him the look of a " goat-man" as featured in the Dan Ackroid and Tom Hanks version of the FBI, a favorite comedy about the fictional character "Joe Friday" who always stated "just the facts ma'am."

As a proper old woman with ideas of what looks either handsome or uncouth, I am conflicted with my ideals concerning Mr. Jardine.

I find him rather handsome and found myself begging for a picture of him after he posted on FaceBook that he had shaved off his beard.

Perhaps he felt a 63 year old such as myself would use it for a nefarious, inappropriate purpose, as he did not provide me with one, causing me to grieve over a lost opportunity to see him without "old scruffy" attached firmly to his chin.

Curses!

I doubt that would have happened had I still been young and sexy looking. Oh the woe of growing old in a youth centered culture!

In the recent interview Keith had with the great interviewer Ariel Harwani, he admitted that if he "went over the top" like Brock Lesnar does, his fame with MMA fans would undoubtedly increase.

Thankfully though, Keith is not a guy who is only out to be famous.

By becoming the hard eyed "Dean of Mean" warrior he is in the cage, he is able to unleash the violence of his inner beast and fight with a ferocity that does not fit a bookworm's typical image.

Ask Chuck Liddell about the "fighter" in Keith's usually mild mannered personality, and I am sure he will verify what I have said.

Although he has not had a title shot, unlike many of his brothers in the Greg Jackson camp, Keith fights with unbelievable heart, then somehow walks away leaving his emotions in the octagon.

He is respectful to each of his opponents win or lose and is well respected in return.

Don't judge a book by its cover, and believe me when I say that "still waters run deep."

Keith has a personality which serves him very well.

Believe it!
