Watson and Rahane Ease Royals to Victory
Rajasthan Royals saw off pre-tournament favourites Chennai Super Kings in some fashion on Sunday as they eased to an eight-wicket victory.
CSK batted first and set Rajasthan 157 for victory, and Ajinkya Rahane and skipper Shane Watson stepped up to the plate in some style.
The pair batted very sensibly, reaching 144 together before Watson fell to Ravindra Jadeja for 73, but the job had already been done.
Watson's runs came from 47 balls, while Rahane was unbeaten on 76 off 55 balls as he saw out the victory with Karun Nair.
The Royals won with 10 balls to spare and are looking in sparkling form; both their bowling and batting units were impressive on Sunday.
Rohit Smashes Mumbai to Huge Total
Mumbai Indians put together a very impressive batting display to post 209 on Sunday, and Royal Challengers Bangalore fell 18 short in the chase.
It was Mumbai's first win of the tournament in the fifth attempt, and their innings included a 59 from Lendl Simmons and 58 from Unmukt Chand.
But skipper Rohit Sharma arguably had the key innings, as he smashed 42 from just 15 balls to move the scoreboard along at an electric pace.
He hit three fours and four maximums, and one of his sixes was quite an extraordinary effort, as described by cricket writer Freddie Wilde.
Rohit put the RCB bowlers under huge pressure, and although late wickets fell, Mumbai were able to post a massively daunting score.
Bangalore did their best to chase it down, with AB de Villiers particularly impressing, but they fell some way short in the end.
