BBC Sport provided more from van Gaal, who spoke about the loss:
The Red Devils dominated possession and gave away few chances, and when he was asked whether the final result left him frustrated, he responded in sarcastic fashion, per BBC Sport's Simon Stone:
The Blues failed to threaten David De Gea much during the first half but still grabbed a lead when Eden Hazard finished a swift counter move, although there was some controversy surrounding the goal.
Many fans believed they saw John Terry foul Radamel Falcao during the buildup, and Van Gaal agreed, as shared by The Guardian's Daniel Taylor:
The Dutch manager continued his post-match presser in the same fashion, claiming the Blues didn't muster a single chance in the first half:
He even got into an argument with one of the reporters in the room, who clearly favoured Chelsea in this match:
In the second half, Chelsea controled the match defensively and gave up few chances, despite ceding possession to the Mancunians. Jose Mourinho told reporters he couldn't care less about those statistics, via Squawka:
As shared by Duncan Castles of the Sunday Times, Saturday's match played out exactly how he wanted:
With Arsenal not featuring in Week 33 of the Premier League season due to their FA Cup semi-final meeting with Reading, the Blues now have a 10-point lead at the top of the standings. Per the Daily Telegraph's Henry Winter, Van Gaal believes the race for the title has been over for some time now:
Mourinho was understandably full of praise of his players, isolating their ability to take United's top stars out of the match completely:
He also made it clear the battle isn't over yet, via the club's official Twitter account:
Mourinho reserved special praise for Hazard, the scorer and eventual match-winner, but he also talked about some of his team-mates who may not have registered on the stat sheet:
Finally, he took a parting shot at the media and how his team is often portrayed, referring to a number of incidents during the match:
Chelsea are just six points shy of the title, and with a double-digit lead over the Gunners and just a handful of matches left to play, it seems almost impossible for the Blues not to win this year's Premier League.
United can take pride in the way they attacked the Blues at Stamford Bridge, but once again, Mourinho showed his aptitude at putting together defensive strategies that are hard on the eye but effective on the scoreboard.
The Red Devils appear a strong bet to make it to next year's Champions League, which is already a positive result after last year's debacle. Losing in this fashion is frustrating, but Chelsea have been the dominant Premier League side all year―there's no shame in a 1-0 loss at Stamford Bridge.
