Final Four 2015: Bracket, Teams, Predictions, Odds and More

Sean ODonnellMar 30, 2015

And then there were four.

With Michigan State's victory over Louisville and Duke's win against Gonzaga on Sunday, those two squads join Kentucky and Wisconsin to form the 2015 NCAA tournament's Final Four. Each of those surviving teams has been heavily tested at some point during the Big Dance, and they all remain due to well-rounded play and a great deal of resilience.

"Just being with these kids and sharing this moment and this Final Four, I'm so happy, I'm so happy for them and to be with them," Mike Krzyzewski said, courtesy of ESPN.com. "I love my team. ... They're taking me to Indy, which is kind of neat."

Predictions

No. 1 Duke vs. No. 7 Michigan State

Duke and Michigan State have racked up impressive wins throughout the Big Dance, and both of these teams certainly have what it takes to advance to the championship game.

Michigan State is a smaller team, and that has been a factor at times. The Spartans rebound well but do have a tendency to give up offensive boards—Louisville accumulated 15 in the Elite Eight showdown. However, forward Branden Dawson and guard Denzel Valentine have been excellent in that department of late, and they have a chance to excel against a Duke team that is somewhat susceptible in that area.

"Rule #1 when filling out your bracket: Never, ever count Tom Izzo out in March," observed ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

If Michigan State can remain competitive on the inside, that will open things up for the sharpshooting Travis Trice on the perimeter. The guard is coming off a 17-point performance, and while his shooting percentages have dipped slightly this season, he's still a threat to drain buckets from anywhere. Not just a one-trick pony, Trice is also a great facilitator who can create open looks for his teammates.

One of the Spartans' biggest strengths is good defensive play, and that should be a slight cause for concern for a Blue Devils team coming off a victory against an average Gonzaga defense after shooting a mere 37.5 percent from the floor. Still, it's a testament to Duke's talent and depth to be able to emerge victorious despite a down shooting day for the majority of the team.

Center Jahlil Okafor will be the biggest threat to the Spartans, as they don't have the size to match up with him. Not only does the freshman have a strong 6'11" frame, but he's highly athletic and can produce effectively on both ends of the court, flourishing in the post on offense and accumulating blocks and rebounds on defense.

With a big frontcourt and perimeter shooters in Tyus Jones, Quinn Cook and Matt Jones, Duke is capable of throwing a good defense off balance. Expect that to be the case against Michigan State as the Blue Devils go through to the championship game.

Prediction: Duke 68, Michigan State 64

No. 1 Kentucky vs. No. 1 Wisconsin

This is the big one everyone is waiting for. Both Kentucky and Wisconsin boast talented frontcourts, and watching them face off will surely provide compelling and exciting college hoops.

The duo of Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker has been phenomenal for the Badgers. Both players have been offensive catalysts and also remained stout on the defensive end of the court. Their performances in the Elite Eight against Arizona are perfect examples of what they're capable of accomplishing when they get into a groove.

Kaminsky led the team with 29 points. He proved to be difficult to contain, even for the very athletic Wildcats. That led to several fouls on the forward, and he responded by hitting 10 of 12 free-throw attempts. Dekker, meanwhile, was simply phenomenal on offense, coming away with 27 points after shooting 8-of-11 from the floor, including some cold-blooded three-pointers late to ice the game.

The biggest issue for Wisconsin going forward is a lack of support from its guards. Josh Gasser and Bronson Koenig are good facilitators, but they may not be able to take over the game if the Badgers frontcourt begins to struggle against Kentucky's massive size on the inside.

The Wildcats can simply get it done from anywhere on the court. Karl-Anthony Towns starred in their huge Elite Eight victory over Notre Dame, knocking down 10 of 13 shots from the floor for 25 points. However, all five of the team's starters—and several bench players—are also capable scorers.

Forwards Willie Cauley-Stein and Trey Lyles can produce on the offensive end of the court, but they are extremely sound defenders who dominate the interior while accumulating boards and blocked shots. Meanwhile, guards Aaron and Andrew Harrison are good perimeter defenders and can knock down shots from downtown in clutch situations.

That kind of well-rounded and versatile basketball is difficult for any team to overcome, and that's why Kentucky remains undefeated heading into this contest. While Wisconsin is certainly talented, it doesn't have the depth to overtake the Wildcats in the Final Four.

Prediction: Kentucky 74, Wisconsin 71
