Duke vs. Gonzaga

If Jahlil Okafor doesn't beat you, Justise Winslow does. If neither one of them beats you, the backcourt of Tyus Jones and Quinn Cook can beat you. Or coach Mike Krzyzewski's tactics might take you down.
Duke and Gonzaga may very well come down to which team has the last shot. That's how talented these teams are offensively. This game very well could be the most exciting offensive display we've seen at the tournament.
The game very well may come down to whether Przemek Karnowski and backup Domantas Sabonis can handle Okafor one-on-one or if Gonzaga will have to double-team him. If they can do the former, they'll certainly give up fewer open looks to Duke's sharpshooters. Utah used the double to stifle Okafor, but that didn't translate to a win.
Ultimately, though, Duke has too many weapons for Gonzaga. The Zags will play Duke tough, but you have to think in a close game that the Blue Devils will have their sea legs after surviving the harsh waters of an ACC season. Will Gonzaga be as cool down the stretch?
I don't think so. Duke wins in a thriller.
Michigan State vs. Louisville
A lot offsets in this game.
Tom Izzo's magic in March is offset by Rick Pitino's magic. Michigan State's grittiness is offset by Louisville's suffocating zone defense. Michigan State's veteran presence is offset by Louisville's veteran presence. Michigan State's resurgence at the end of the year after a rough start is offset by Louisville's ability to overcome the dismissal of Chris Jones and the ability to rediscover an identity and leadership out on the court.
And, of course, Michigan State's "we weren't even supposed to be here" demeanor is offset by Louisville's similar attitude.
So what separates these teams?
Well, Michigan State is probably a bit more versatile. The Spartans have shown late in the year they can play multiple styles and win. They are also a good transition team and will probably look to run at every opportunity against Louisville, hoping to either score quick buckets before the Cardinals settle into their stifling zone defense or create perimeter shots on the break.
Louisville likely wants a half-court game, where it can grind out possessions and utilize the advantage it'll likely have on the boards.
So, who will win?
I like Michigan State. I like Travis Trice, Denzel Valentine and Branden Dawson making big shots in key moments. I like the Spartans really pushing the tempo, but I also doubt they'll panic if Louisville is able to control the pace. But expect this one to be tight.
