Louisiana Derby 2015 Results: Winner, Payouts and Order of Finish
This year's Louisiana Derby featured a whopping four horses who were featured in the Kentucky Derby's fourth and final future wager pool. Unsurprisingly, the race lived up to all the hype this year and produced a quality winner in International Star.
For International Star, the win proved to be even more impressive, as the three-year-old managed to sweep all three Derby prep races held in Louisiana. With the victory, this Ramsey-owned colt took home the lion's share of the race's $750,000 purse and 100 points to secure himself a spot in this year's Run for the Roses.
Stanford and War Story also secured points toward a spot in the Derby, earning 40 and 20 points, respectively.
These weren't the only three horses running, though, so to get us started, let's get a look through the final payouts for this year's Louisiana Derby.
Winner and Payouts
| International Star | $6.60 | $3.60 | $2.60 |
| Stanford | -- | $7.00 | $4.80 |
| War Story | -- | -- | $2.80 |
Recap
Racing out of the one hole, Stanford broke straight to the front of the pack, setting the group out to a pace of 24.03 seconds through the first quarter. Mr. Z and long-shot Fusaichi Flame broke directly behind him, helping to push the race along to a 48.59 second half-mile.

International Star showed great kick coming into the turn for home, making his move along the outside of Stanford, who nearly wired the field.
Ultimately, though, the Todd Pletcher-trained colt didn't have enough to hold off hard-charging International Star, who finished the race with a time of 1:50.67.
International Star's story is an intriguing one to watch moving forward, as it isn't very often that a colt sweeps all the Derby prep races run in a single state.
Looking at the heavy favorite, War Story, this son of Northern Afleet didn't seem to have the kick oddsmakers and the betting public thought he would when they set him up to be the post-time favorite.
The race did play out rather close to form, though, as Stanford was the clear pick to run out to the front of the pack, leaving International Star, War Story and Mr. Z to try and pick up the pieces.
Mr. Z, a 3-1 post-time selection, tried to run just back of place-finisher Stanford but failed to lift a hoof during the final quarter, settling for a last-place finish.
Despite the poor showing from Mr. Z, the race turned out to be a showcase for yet another Ramsey family-owned colt, who is pictured below in the winner's circle (via Lucia):
Next stop for this son of Fusaichi Pegasus, Churchill Downs, as noted by Ken Ramsey (via The Courier-Journal's Derby News):
