With the disgruntled Peterson wanting out of Minnesota, per Jarrett Bell of USA Today, the Vikings' hand could ultimately be forced. Despite that possibility, Zimmer is seemingly confident that AP will eventually report to the team:
Also, Zimmer is unconcerned about Peterson potentially deciding to skip organized team activities, per Around The NFL:
Tom Pelissero of USA Today provided an update on Peterson's potential reinstatement:
The 30-year-old running back is a six-time Pro Bowler, and his return to Minnesota would conceivably make the Vikings playoff contenders once again. The Vikes' 2014 season was essentially railroaded by the loss of Peterson, which apparently still has Zimmer reeling, according to Seifert:
It is difficult to say how good Peterson will be after missing an entire year of football, but his remarkable track record of success suggests he will be a big-time difference-maker.
The Vikings are hopeful and expectant that Peterson's return to the gridiron will work to their benefit, but it seems likely that the two sides are in for a long and arduous battle.
