WWE WrestleMania 31: Date, Start Time, Matches, Live Stream, PPV Info

Ryan DilbertMar 25, 2015

Uncertainty will bleed into the spectacle at WWE WrestleMania 31.

Roman Reigns headlines pro wrestling's Super Bowl opposite Brock Lesnar. Questions of his readiness to be a true headliner and whether fans will treat him like a babyface or an umpire who just missed a key call swirl around him.

Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, hosts the massive matches, pyrotechnics, elaborate entrances and in-ring drama on March 29 starting at 7 p.m. ET. The four-hour extravaganza will also feature a two-hour pre-show.

It is a pay-per-view filled with emerging stars and established names. Men like Triple H and The Undertaker have been standing under WrestleMania's bright lights since the '90s. The show is also the first for Rusev and only the third for men who may be the cornerstones of the next generation: Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Reigns.

Reigns jetted past his former brethren from The Shield, becoming the first of that trio to main event The Showcase of the Immortals.

With Reigns, WWE will hope to launch a new era and announce the arrival of a new megastar. Audience backlash is a potential roadblock to those goals.

The Rock congratulates Roman Reigns on his Royal Rumble win.

Immense pressure weighs on the challenger's shoulders as he looks to take down a mighty beast.

Live Stream, PPV Info

The list of countries that will air WrestleMania on the WWE Network has grown tremendously since last year. The United Kingdom, Australia and Hong Kong are among the nations where the streaming service is now available.

It's not yet a worldwide entity, though. Places like China, Japan, Germany and India don't yet have access to the WWE Network. Check out the network help section on WWE.com to check availability in your country.

For fans from those places or who don't have access to high-speed Internet, ordering through one's local cable company is the alternate method to get WrestleMania.

Ordering via companies like Comcast or Time Warner Cable will run you about $60. Cable services that offer an HD option do so at an extra cost of $10. To check viewing options in other countries, visit WWE.com's How to Watch section.

If one does have access to the WWE Network, though, that is by far the better way to go. What you would pay for one show gets you access to the 24/7 streaming service for six months.

WWE has done a poor job of explaining the WWE Network on the air. Announcers will say that fans can get WrestleMania for just $9.99, but that's not completely accurate. That price is for a month's worth of the WWE Network.

That includes on-demand access to WWE's pay-per-view archive, NXT episodes, original documentaries and more.

With a subscription to the network, fans can stream all the action from WrestleMania 31 via Apple TV, Xbox consoles, Roku streaming devices and a number of other gadgets listed here.

As for the pre-show, WWE is giving away the first hour for free. Stream it on the WWE App, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ or Pheed. During the second hour, the pre-show becomes exclusive to the WWE Network.

Match Card

  • Cesaro and Tyson Kidd (c) vs. Los Matadores vs. The Usos vs. The New Day (Tag Team Championship)
  • Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton
  • Intercontinental Championship Ladder match
  • Paige and AJ Lee vs. The Bella Twins
  • Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
  • Rusev (c) vs. John Cena (United States Championship)
  • Bray Wyatt vs. Undertaker
  • Sting vs. Triple H
  • Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Roman Reigns (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

Tag Team Championship

The tag champs have been central to the tag division so far in 2015. The Usos have been their only real rivals. Otherwise, WWE has had to throw in lesser acts like Los Matadores to round things out.

The teams enter with little storyline and less momentum. Like last year, this feels very much like a thrown-together match.

Jey Uso enters with a banged-up shoulder. WWE has cleared him, but questions remain as to how much he'll participate. With seven other men involved, it would be easy for WWE to keep him mostly on the periphery.

Rollins vs. Orton

Rollins ousted Orton from The Authority back in November by sending him offscreen for months with a Curb Stomp onto the ring steps. WWE had Orton worm his way back into the group upon his return, only to eventually snap and give Mr. Money in the Bank a throttling.

While it will be hard to follow what felt like an early climax, having two top-notch performers go at it makes this a potential show-stealer.

Rollins promises to have a slew of cronies to assist him. Orton will look to RKO his former partner in spite of that.

Fans will also be keeping an eye on Rollins' condition. If he's not too hurt after this, the audience will be wondering if he will cash in his Money in the Bank contract on whoever wins the WWE title bout.

That would be a WrestleMania first: No one has ever used this grand stage for a cash-in.

IC Ladder Match

In what essentially replaces the once-annual WrestleMania Money in the Bank Ladder match, Dean Ambrose, Bad News Barrett, Stardust, Luke Harper, Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth and Daniel Bryan will all battle for the IC title.

This could well serve as the launchpad for that often-neglected championship.

Dan Pecoraro of Bleacher Report handicapped the field in the anticipated bout:

Having a great match to decide the next titleholder helps that cause. So does giving the belt to Bryan.

This is the safest bet for Match of the Night, with a wealth of talented wrestlers and ladder spots to power it.

Divas Tag Match

It's not surprising that there is no Divas title match this year, as WWE hasn't done much with Nikki Bella's reign thus far. She has been given little in the way of a real rivalry.

She is once again teaming up with Brie Bella after their feud faded away without explanation.

It's Paige and AJ who have the most animosity here. They were always uneasy allies, but a recent collision turned them into full-on enemies once more.

Whether they can get along enough to win is the main narrative. The subplot centers on how much time WWE will give these women. A recent backlash from fans about ignoring the women's division has seen a few more Divas matches move past way-too-short territory.

Second Annual Battle Royal

WWE crams its midcarders into a single match here, just as it did at WrestleMania 30. The Prime Time Players, The Ascension, The Miz, Damien Mizdow and Zack Ryder are among those entered in the over-the-top-rope battle.

One has to assume this is where WWE will plug in Sheamus for his expected return.

In addition, the match gets a boost from NXT. A four-man tournament at WrestleMania Axxess will allow one NXT wrestler to make his way into this contest.

Ryback has received much of the attention leading up to this Battle Royal. He enters as the favorite for that reason.

He or whoever wins has to hope that taking home that Andre trophy does more for his career than it did for Cesaro last time around; he tumbled downward into obscurity after his victory.

Rusev vs. Cena II

In a match that feels a lot like Rocky IV moved to the squared circle, the gutsy American hero looks to take down the big, bad Russian.

Rusev enters having never lost by pinfall or submission. Cena makes his way into action with a long history of overcoming odds and getting big wins.

Just as Bryan may help restore prestige to the IC title, WWE may be planning to have Cena do the same for the United States Championship.

Rusev won the first round at Fastlane when Cena blacked out. The expectation is that good and America will prevail this time around.

Wyatt vs. Undertaker

After Undertaker's first loss at WrestleMania, he disappeared. Fans wondered if he was done with wrestling. Well, he has at least one more match in him.

Wyatt has been carrying this feud, calling out The Deadman, promising to become The New Face of Fear.

What Undertaker has left and whether the company will have him follow a 21-0 run at the event with an 0-2 slide are the two biggest stories heading into this clash. WWE can give Wyatt a major boost with a dominant win.

But WWE's eyes may be on next year's event, where some expect Undertaker to finally face Sting.

Sting vs. Triple H

Soldiers on opposing sides of the Monday Night War face off. It is Sting's first WrestleMania match and his first WWE bout overall.

With Sting in his 50s, fans don't know what to expect of him physically. Triple H will likely have to do much of the work as he presumably looks to make Sting look like a force worth paying to see next year as well.

Triple H shared an image of the training he's going through to prepare for such a task via his Twitter account:

Wrestling-wise, this is likely to be a letdown. The story, though, will be the main focus. With some smoke and mirrors and two elite storytellers at work, this should be something memorable in spite of the men involved being a combined 101 years old.

Lesnar vs. Reigns

Fans booed Reigns when he won the Royal Rumble. Will they buy him as a top babyface two months later?

That is as big a question as who will come out of this as champ. Lesnar and Reigns could flip roles with the challenger turning heel to play into the negative reaction he has received.

Reigns is a young, talented wrestler brimming with potential. WWE is trying to infuse new blood into the main event by elevating him faster than some expected. It's a bold move, one that may backfire if WrestleMania's crowd is as harsh as the one from the Rumble.

In addition, fans will be on the lookout for Paul Heyman's potentially siding with Reigns and Rollins' looking to end the night as champ with a cash-in.

The title match could either be Reigns' coronation or a spectacular catastrophe. That in itself is reason to watch.
