Kaka Opens Up on Jose Mourinho, Cristiano Ronaldo, Chelsea, Arsenal and More

Nick AkermanMar 24, 2015

Kaka's Premier League-based friends—the likes of Chelsea's Willian, Oscar and Filipe Luis, plus Arsenal's Mesut Ozil—have urged the Brazilian legend to head to England.

Daily Mail writer Sam Cunningham recently posted an interview with Kaka in which he admits his pals are trying to convince him to move to the English capital: "They joke with me saying, 'Come and play for Chelsea or Arsenal' but I am so happy here in Orlando."

Kaka admits he is "so pleased" to have worked with current Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, calling him "one of the best coaches in the world," per Cunningham:

His ambition for victory sets Mourinho apart. He wants to win every game, so he prepares all the smallest details; in training, at the game, everything. I loved to work with him. He tries everything to extract the best from the players, to push them. This is what he can do better than anyone else.

"

Although things didn't always work out for Kaka at the Bernabeu, with a lack of playing time hindering his progress, Cunningham notes the player's "capacity to forgive, to forgo blame and bitterness, shines through repeatedly over the course of this interview."

ORLANDO, FL - MARCH 08: Kaka #10 of Orlando City SC celebrates after he scores the first goal in team history during an MLS soccer match between the New York City FC and the Orlando City SC at the Orlando Citrus Bowl on March 8, 2015 in Orlando, Florida.

Currently enjoying a debut season with new MLS outfit Orlando City, Kaka can be considered one of the American division's new wave of stars.

He netted the first competitive goal in Orlando's history against New York City FC, rescuing a last-minute point on March 8. Orlando have beaten the Houston Dynamo and lost to the Vancouver Whitecaps since then in an exciting first step along the club's history.

Kaka's goal can be seen below:

Kaka has played with the best throughout his career. He had the privilege of working with Paolo Maldini, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and many other high-profile individuals. One who stuck out, though, was Cristiano Ronaldo, a player he admired at Madrid, per Cunningham:

"

It was great having him as a team-mate. I learnt a lot of things from him, every day I stuck with him and saw how he trained, how he played. It helped me a lot. We had a great relationship off the pitch in Spain. We still have a very good one. I'm so happy that he could win the Ballon d'Or at Real Madrid. He really deserved that. He is a special player.

"

The 32-year-old admits he is open to being called into Dunga's national selection for the 2018 World Cup, having been left out of his home-based tournament last year. He would be 36 by the time the Russia-hosted competition arrives, but a successful spell with Orlando could see him selected as an outside pick. Brazil certainly won't have a more experienced player to deploy at this point.

Kaka has never been the type of individual to make a fuss or grab headlines by showing his annoyance when things go against him. He is an excellent central figure for Orlando to build around—calm, collected and classy—simultaneously promoting the club's image and the MLS as a global brand.

Like David Villa at NYCFC, or the incoming Steven Gerrard at Los Angeles Galaxy, he is the type of individual who can make the MLS compelling viewing for audiences outside the USA. It's certainly encouraging to see Kaka doesn't appear to have any regrets and can give his full attention to Orlando without wondering what might have been elsewhere.

He ranks among the best ever and is the last man to win the Ballon d'Or who doesn't possess Ronaldo or Lionel Messi's name. This is likely to remain true in the coming seasons, especially as at least one of the pair always seems to be prolific.

While many will ponder if Kaka could have transferred his skills to the Premier League, he is well-situated to dominate the MLS during the latter stages of his career. Nobody can begrudge him that after a historic tenure in Europe.
