Matt Moore Re-Signs With Dolphins: Latest Contract Details, Comments, Reaction
The Miami Dolphins were big spenders in the initial wave of free agency. They took steps on a busy Friday to retain several other important pieces, including backup quarterback Matt Moore.
Moore re-signed to stay in Miami, according to an official announcement by the Dolphins. ESPN.com's Adam Caplan adds that Moore's contract is of the one-year variety.
This adds to the team's list of retention-centric transactions from Friday; Miami opted to bring back safety Louis Delmas and running back LaMichael James as well, per the team's official Twitter account.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey spoke highly of Delmas and Moore in particular once their futures with the team were secured, per the team's official website:
"I am happy that we have been able to reach agreements with Louis and Matt to keep them as members of the Miami Dolphins. Louis was a quality addition to Miami last season who added energy and playmaking ability from the safety position. Matt has provided stability and leadership for the Dolphins in his time here and we’re excited to have both of them back.
"
Ben Volin of The Boston Globe weighed in on Moore staying put rather than capitalizing on a potential chance to play more elsewhere:

Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald noted Moore was drawing interest from other teams:
It had to be important for Miami to keep Moore around. The 30-year-old veteran has NFL starting experience, and he can help still-developing starting QB Ryan Tannehill to continue to evolve.
Tannehill is in the last year of his rookie contract, so he's not necessarily married to the Dolphins to be their long-term answer under center. In the seemingly unlikely event that Tannehill regresses in 2015, Miami could turn to Moore and still be competitive.
Since Moore's new deal is reportedly only one year long, though, the Dolphins' QB situation beyond 2015 is still quite muddy. If Miami doesn't make the playoffs this season, its depth chart at the most important position could look considerably different, and a new coaching staff would probably replace Joe Philbin and Co.
