NCAA Scores 2015: How to Track Results and Bracket on 2nd-Round Day 2

Brian MaziqueMar 20, 2015

March Madness was mildly insane on Thursday with two major upsets highlighting the action. Two No. 14 seeds came away victorious.

The Georgia State Panthers needed a last-second shot from R.J. Hunter—the son of the team's head coach Ron Hunter—to put down the No. 3 Baylor Bears. The elder Hunter was already hobbled after injuring himself during the team's celebration of the Sun Belt conference tournament championship. His son's game-winner floored him again, per Jay Busbee of Yahoo Sports.

The Panthers will face the No. 6 Xavier Musketeers in the round of 32 on Saturday.

In the day's other upset, the UAB Blazers crushed the dreams of the No. 3 Iowa State Cyclones. Behind 21 points from Robert Brown and a 51-34 edge in rebounding, the Blazers moved on to face the No. 11 UCLA Bruins.

UCLA also knocked off a higher-seeded foe by beating the No. 6 SMU Mustangs.

Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Davidson Wildcats

This game presents an intriguing contrast of styles. The Hawkeyes' huge frontcourt led by Aaron White will have to contend with Davidson's quickness. Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports also likes this matchup:

The Wildcats start four guards and a 6'7" freshman in Peyton Aldridge.

While the Hawkeyes could dominate due to their perceived edge on the glass, a hot-shooting Davidson team—making 40 percent of its shots from three-point range—could wreak havoc if it can push the tempo against Iowa.

If the Hawkeyes control the glass, they should be able to control tempo; thus, using their size advantage to dominate in a half-court set. Despite their diminutive lineup, Davidson averaged just two fewer rebounds than Iowa during the season.

If Davidson can stick close in the battle of the boards and shoot the three well, this one will get really interesting.
