Arizona vs. Texas Southern: Score and Twitter Reaction from March Madness 2015
On the heels of some thrilling games across the country to start the second round of the NCAA tournament, Texas Southern would have no such luck against Arizona. The No. 2-seeded Wildcats easily dispatched the Tigers, 93-72, to advance to the third round.
The blowout victory moves the Wildcats' winning streak to 12 games thanks to their explosive offense and stout defense. NCAA March Madness pointed out the final from Portland's Moda Center:
Arizona was led by Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Stanley Johnson on both ends of the floor. Hollis-Jefferson ignited the Wildcats early with 16 points in the first half while shooting 5-of-5 from the field. The sophomore finished with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds for his fifth career double-double.

Johnson provided excitement for the crowd on hand with his high-flying ability. His effort earned him 22 points, five rebounds and one flattering comparison from analyst Reggie Miller, per Doug Haller of AZCentral.com:
Here's a video of the dunk and Miller's comparison:
T.J. McConnell also made his presence felt in the massive win with 12 points, four rebounds and four steals.
Texas Southern couldn't get much going offensively in the first half but still managed to find a way to put some points on the board in the second. Madarious Gibbs led the way with 15 points for the Tigers.
It wasn't a pretty first half for the Tigers, who saw the Wildcats go on a 15-2 run to start the game. Texas Southern attempted to climb back in the game, but Johnson and Hollis-Jefferson were simply too much to handle.
Despite some up-and-down games this season, Johnson is on fire heading into the tournament. Arizona head coach Sean Miller pointed out just how much he has grown this season, via Steve Rivera of Fox Sports:
"One of the hardest things with us in college coaching is dealing with an elite young player in our program. They are not necessarily being judged who they really are age-wise or experience-wise. They are almost judged as if they (were former Arizona great) Sean Elliott in his last year at Arizona, because that's who they are really representing in the game. With that, you have to remind yourself that Stanley Johnson is just 19 years old.
And at that age we all grow a lot and mature. That's what he's done.
"
The second half was much the same for the Wildcats, who were not interested in meeting the same fate as some other top programs in the country. While both Baylor and Iowa State crumbled down the stretch, Arizona made it clear it is here to contend for a national championship.
Jon Solomon of CBS Sports pointed out that there would be no such upset on the West Coast:
Both teams traded blows in the second half, but it was clear that Arizona had control throughout the game. All five starters for the Wildcats finished in double digits in scoring, which made Bryan Fischer of NFL.com very happy:
Arizona earned an easy win to make it to the third round but will have a tougher matchup on its hands. Whether the Wildcats take on No. 10 Ohio State or No. 7 VCU, both teams offer a better test.
In his previous five years, Miller has led Zona to three Sweet 16s and two Elite Eight appearances. After the performance the Wildcats put on during the opening game, it appears Miller might be headed for yet another late run in March.
