The 100,200-seat Bukit Jalil National Stadium will play host to the match, which is designed to bring the English side closer to fans based in the Southeast Asian country.
Liverpool's chief executive, Ian Ayre, commented on the club's previous experience in Malaysia and highlighted exactly why a return has been initiated, per the side's website:
"We visited Kuala Lumpur as part of our 2011 pre-season tour and the support we received was incredible. Not only from the 80,000 fans that turned out to watch us play at Bukit Jalil, but all our fans in Malaysia throughout our visit.
Pre-season is an important time for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season and the match against the Malaysian XI is an exciting part of that preparation. The tour gives our supporters a chance to see the team up close, no matter how far away from Anfield they might live.
"

It is also worth noting the Liverpool FC Foundation—which is hosting a charity match pitting teams captained by Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher together on Mar. 29—will also "carry out work in the community throughout the visit," per the aforementioned report.
Liverpool posted a snapshot of the support they can expect to receive when the match begins:
The Merseyside club won 6-3 the last time they faced Malaysia XI. Kenny Dalglish was still in charge back then, with goals from Charlie Adam, David Ngog (2), Maxi Rodriguez (2) and Dirk Kuyt securing the win shortly after Stewart Downing joined the club. How things have changed.

Local supporters will once again hope to see plenty of goals in relaxed conditions. Rodgers will most likely deploy a variation of key players, new signings and youngsters, providing many with the opportunity to impress.
Liverpool could head into the match having secured a top-four spot in the Premier League, a factor that will likely increase interest in their Asian trip.
