UCLA Football: Burning Questions Ahead of Spring Practice
With spring practice less than two weeks away, there are three burning questions when it comes to Jim Mora and the UCLA football program.
Two of these questions relate solely to assistant coaches on the squad. One coach is facing some serious allegations, while another has been awarded a fresh start.
The third question focuses on a new member of the squad. This player enters UCLA with tons of hype and plays the most significant position on the field.
Here are three burning questions facing the UCLA Bruins ahead of the start of spring practice on March 31.
The Status of Adrian Klemm
1 of 3
UCLA received some bad news early Monday morning, as offensive line coach Adrian Klemm was suspended for alleged NCAA violations, per Jack Wang of the Los Angeles Daily News.
This sort of news is especially inopportune, as it comes during a significant time of the year.
UCLA's recruiting efforts for the 2016 period are in full swing, according to 247Sports. Visitors have been touring the campus unofficially, while the staff remains dogged in its evaluation efforts. Spring practice also starts in less than two weeks.
Not only is Klemm the top recruiter on the staff, but he's also universally considered one of the best recruiters nationally. His prowess on the recruiting trails is a big reason why UCLA has recruited both the state of Texas and the offensive line itself extremely well.
A resolution will likely have to happen rather quickly. If Klemm leaves his post, UCLA will have to scramble to hire an offensive line coach during the spring ball period.
Either way, this is not a good situation for the Bruins.
What Will Tom Bradley's Scheme Look Like?
2 of 3
When looking at new defensive coordinator Tom Bradley's resume, it's quite impressive.
The track record is definitely there for UCLA to have an improved defense in 2015. Last season, UCLA liked to operate mostly out of a 3-3-5 alignment (depending on the down and distance).
While Bradley traditionally ran a 3-4 base defense with Penn State, he has experience with the 3-3-5 look during his time last year with West Virginia.
It will be fascinating to see how the defense evolves with the personnel on the current roster. Spring practice will be a period of fundamentals, installment and a familiarization with Bradley's terminology.
How Will Josh Rosen Look?
3 of 3
Finding the successor to Brett Hundley at quarterback will be a major storyline this spring.
However, the real bit of intrigue surrounds true freshman quarterback Josh Rosen. It will be the first time the public will get to see Rosen compete at the collegiate level.
The hype surrounding the St. John Bosco High School product is immense. Many already consider him the odds-on favorite to win the job.
Rosen's ability to manage the offense and make the proper reads will be something to watch. While growing pains will inevitably occur, all eyes will be on Rosen this spring.
