Sprint Cup Chase 2015: NASCAR Standings and Schedule After CampingWorld.com 500
After picking up his first win of the season last week, Kevin Harvick solidified his place in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Sunday by taking the checkered flag in the CampingWold.com 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.
Harvick won from the pole position and continued his impressive run of dominance at Phoenix, according to Jeff Gluck of USA Today:
In addition to that, he joined elite company in NASCAR history by finishing in the top two for the seventh consecutive race dating back to last season, per ESPN's Marty Smith:
There is still a lot of racing left in 2015, so while Harvick appears to be the clear favorite to repeat as champion, the rest of the field will have an opportunity to catch up to his elite form.

Harvick was already atop the Sprint Cup standings prior to Sunday's race, but he widened the gap even more between himself and the rest of the competition.
With the fourth race of the season in the books, here is a rundown of how the top 16 drivers currently stand, courtesy of NASCAR.com:
| 1 | Kevin Harvick | 2 | 182 |
| 2 | Joey Logano | 1 | 160 |
| 3 | Jimmie Johnson | 1 | 124 |
| 4 | Martin Truex Jr. | 0 | 155 |
| 5 | Kasey Kahne | 0 | 132 |
| 6 | AJ Allmendinger | 0 | 127 |
| 7 | Dale Earnhardt Jr. | 0 | 126 |
| 8 | Ryan Newman | 0 | 123 |
| 9 | Brad Keselowski | 0 | 116 |
| 10 | Matt Kenseth | 0 | 113 |
| 11 | Paul Menard | 0 | 112 |
| 12 | Casey Mears | 0 | 111 |
| 13 | Denny Hamlin | 0 | 108 |
| 14 | Aric Almirola | 0 | 105 |
| 15 | Clint Bowyer | 0 | 101 |
| 16 | Greg Biffle | 0 | 101 |
There is understandably a great deal of focus on Harvick based on how incredible he has been to start the campaign, but several other drivers deserve credit for hot starts as well. That includes Martin Truex Jr., who sits fourth in the standings after his fourth consecutive top-10 finish out of the gates.
Truex struggled mightily last season during his first campaign with Furniture Row Racing, but he seems to have turned things around, and he has huge aspirations moving forward, according to Bob Pockrass of ESPN.com:
"I need to make the Chase because this team is capable of it and I'm capable of it and I want to do it again. What happened in the past has nothing to do this year. There's no reason I can't win races. There's no reason I can't be as good as the best out there or better. ... In the right situation, I can be the best out here. I know I can. And I plan on doing that because I have got a great team right now and I plan to take advantage of it.
"
AJ Allmendinger is also in a good spot in sixth place after surprising many by qualifying for the Chase last season.
Kurt Busch is a driver who has some work to do in order to get into the top 16 after missing the first three races due to suspension, but he performed well during his return at Phoenix.
Busch finished fifth Sunday, and he was thrilled to be back in action, per Gluck:
The NASCAR season is a marathon rather than a sprint, and the fact that one victory is almost assuredly good enough for a spot in the Chase means that every driver is very much in the thick of things regardless of where he or she is in the standings currently.
Drivers like Harvick, Joey Logano and Jimmie Johnson are in a comfortable spot with wins already in the bank, which means they can perform freely and easily moving forward.
That dynamic between comfort and desperation should ensure that the Sprint Cup season will bring no shortage of entertaining and dramatic moments as the year progresses.
