NASCAR Xfinity Series at Phoenix 2015 Results: Winner, Standings and Reaction
Joey Logano fended off Matt Kenseth Saturday to seize the checkered flag at the NASCAR Xfinity Series Axalta Faster Tougher Brighter 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.
This year's Daytona 500 winner led a ridiculous 176 of 200 laps on the afternoon, only surrendering his stranglehold on the top spot out of a few cautions as drivers got creative in their strategies.
NASCAR XFINITY captured the moment on Twitter:

As far as wild happenings go, the spectacle in Phoenix was tame in comparison to a wild prior few weeks.
In fact, things never hit a dramatic point until the 94th lap, when Landon Cassill—who wound up finishing 37th—collided with the wall, prompting the race's second caution (the first came for minor debris). Radio chatter chronicled by Richard Allen of RacingWithRich.com revealed the cause:
Austin Dillon swiped the lead at the green flag just after the halfway point, but Logano moved fast after taking four tires on pit road.
Dillon and others had another quick chance to make adjustments, though, as a third caution flag dropped—courtesy of Peyton Sellers and an issue with fluid on the track.
In an interesting turn of events, Brennan Poole—in his second-career start after finishing in ninth place last week—seized the lead. His brief splotch of time in front exemplified the wild manner of strategies drivers and crews used to get ahead Saturday, as PopularSpeed.com's Kelly Crandall illustrates:
The strategy failed, as Poole faded before running out of fuel and finishing 26th. But when it comes to experience, Saturday was a big moment for the young driver.
With cautions being such a clear strategic point Saturday, the fourth is also worth a note. Chase Elliott tapped series leader Ty Dillon and spun out, prompting some choice words captured by ESPN's Bob Pockrass:
Elliott was one of the day's more interesting storylines—he ran out of tires with 36 laps to go after moving up to ninth place. Keep in mind a fifth-place finish in Sin City moved him up to the slot in the standings last week. The 19-year-old driver finished seventh.
Saturday was all about Logano, though, who led the first 50 laps—and 85 of the first 100—and went on to all but secure the victory before the actual checkered flag if history had a say in the manner, as the series explained on Twitter:
Logano cruised to the finish after the fourth caution flag, with nobody but Kenseth coming close.
He shared his thoughts after the race, too, per Allen:
As an aside, the standings remain in a holding pattern at the top. Ty Dillon—who moved into first place in the standings last week courtesy of an eighth-place finish in Las Vegas—wound up in sixth place. Despite a 14th-place finish, Chris Buescher still clutches second place.
The continued surge of Elliott is perhaps most noteworthy in the actual standings. Elliott's slow start to the season appears to be a thing of the past.
He joins Dillon, Buescher and Ryan Reed in a four-way battle for the top of the leaderboard as Sprint Cup drivers continue to put on strong performances while participating in the field.
Up next for the series is the NASCAR Xfinity Series at California, hosted by Auto Club Speedway, where last year Kyle Larson took home the checkered flag.
This year, Dillon will look to fend off the field and keep some rising drivers at bay while also going head-to-head with Sprint Cup contenders. For Logano, next up is the No. 2 position in Sunday's Sprint Cup Series at Phoenix.
