Selection Sunday 2015: Live Stream, TV Coverage for Bracket Announcement

Chris RolingMar 14, 2015

No men's college basketball team wants to hear its name called during the 2015 edition of Selection Sunday.

At least, that's what it feels like after a horrific, nightmare-esque couple of days for teams on the bubble during conference tournament play.

Let's keep it brief: The Texas A&M Aggies lost to a bad Auburn Tigers team (66-59), the Texas Longhorns lost in crushing fashion against the Iowa State Cyclones (69-67) and the Miami Hurricanes took a loss against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (70-63).

Furthermore Illinois took an 18-point loss against Michigan (73-55), and the Stanford Cardinal took a 24-point loss against Utah (80-56).

These things happen, yes, but most could have at least put up a fight like UCLA did in a 70-64 loss to No. 5 Arizona.

Everything has a silver lining, though—the wild ride to date means this year's Selection Sunday will be one of the most interesting yet as the committee forms the bracket. Below is what to know about the selection special.

Bubble Teams to Watch

Temple (23-9)

Head coach Fran Dunphy's Temple Owls are the perfect definition of living on the edgebubble-bursting opportunities surrounding on all fronts.

The Owls need as much help as possible despite a four-game winning streak and Dunphy's 500th career win during an 80-75 triumph against Memphis. There, Will Cummings and Obi Enechionyia totaled nine points in the waning moments to steal the victory.

CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein put it best after:

Want more proof that March games are oh-so-important? Several bubble teams are en route to potential automatic bids, meaning the work Temple does may go out the window regardless.

Yahoo Sports' Pat Forde explains:

It's a layered problem. Temple is just 1-4 against the RPI Top 25 and 2-7 against the RPI Top 50, per ESPN's RPI profile. An odd 77-52 upset of then-No. 10 Kansas in December is the only thing propping the Owls up.

Regardless of the outcome against SMUa team that swept the Owls in the regular seasonDunphy's team may need outside help to make the bracket.

Purdue (21-12)

On the back of A.J. Hammons, the Purdue Boilermakers ride.

The junior who averages 11.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game put on a clinic against Penn State, scoring a game-high 23 points with nine rebounds and four blocks. The next-highest scorer for Purdue in the victory was Rapheal Davis with 13, who shared some kind words after the game about Hammons' performance.

"He was a game-changer on both ends of the floor," Davis said, per The Associated Press (via ESPN.com). "I've been telling him since we were younger, `You can change games whenever you want to.' I went out and told him that it's time to take over. You can see by his numbers he was a big factor in today's game."

Hammons has done it all for the Boilermakers this season and has them right on the bubble.

Rocky December losing streak? Ugly start to conference play? No matter. Purdue is 0-4 against the RPI Top 25, sure, but 4-5 against the RPI Top 50.

Purdue is almost impossible to beat when Hammons is at the top of his game. It should strike fear into the rest of the bracket—if the Boilermakers make the field on Selection Sunday.

Boise State (25-8)

LAS VEGAS, NV - MARCH 13: Rob Heyer #22 of the Boise State Broncos drives to the basket against Jason McManamen #23 of the Wyoming Cowboys during a semifinal game of the Mountain West Conference basketball tournament at the Thomas & Mack Center on March

Get this: A team with two losses dating back to early January is in danger of missing the tournament.

Said team is head coach Leon Rice's Boise State Broncos, which just bowed out in an overtime duel with Wyoming. The Broncos had no answer for Josh Adams, who poured in 27 points to render Derrick Marks' 17-point performance a non-factor.

Alas, Rice didn't pull any punches about his team's candidacy for the Big Dance, as captured by Jay Trust of KTVB:

The Broncos are a mixed bag, though.

A 3-3 mark against the RPI Top 50 and an 8-7 record against the RPI Top 150 make for a spotty resume, at best. Winning 15 of 17 to close the season is great, but whether it negates those spotty numbers against top opponents is up in the air.

Such a streak to close the seasonhighlighted by a 56-46 road triumph against then-No. 24 San Diego Statemight see the Broncos into the fold. But it's a might, meaning Rice and Co. will wait with bated breath Sunday.
