Florida vs. Alabama: Twitter Reacts to Gators' Victory in SEC Tournament
Twitter's reaction to Florida vs. Alabama was just about as bland as the Gators' 69-61 victory over the Tide in Thursday's second round of the SEC Tournament.
In fact, conversations centered primarily on Alabama's poor showing—on the boards, from the perimeter and defensively.
The Gators edged the Tide, 35-24 on the glass. They finished with 14 second-chance points off 12 offensive rebounds while Alabama got their hands on just three offensive rebounds for four points.

Jacksonville.com's Richard Johnson predicted how the disparity would impact the game's outcome after the Tide's lone first-half offensive board:
"Bama has one offensive rebound. No second chance points. If they lose, that's why.
— Richard Johnson (@RagjUF) March 12, 2015"
As Cecil Hurt of Tuscaloosa News highlighted, Alabama also struggled to score from the perimeter:
"Alabama had not made a perimeter shot since Riley Norris' 3-pointer with 14:30 to play in the first half.
— Cecil Hurt (@CecilHurt) March 12, 2015"
And they wouldn't make their next until Retin Obasohan's three-pointer with one minute, 14 seconds to play in the game. The Tide scored 28 points in the paint and 19 from the line.
Alabama also ran into problems on the defensive side of the ball, struggling to force turnovers. Joe Whelan from WBMA-TV in Birmingham noted a staggering statistic:
"Crazy stat, #Florida has gone 20 minutes of game time without a turnover. Gators have just 3 for the whole game vs. #Alabama defense.
— Joe Whelan (@WhelanABC3340) March 12, 2015"
The Gators would make it another four minutes before turning the ball over—24 total minutes without one.
One of the biggest hits for the Tide was limited playing time from Rodney Cooper. The senior guard played five minutes less than his 31.3 per-game average due to foul trouble. He was pulled out with just under 17 minutes to play after being called for his fourth.
Cooper reentered the game with 7:41 to play until he was called for his fifth foul on a drive to the basket just four minutes later.
Needless to say, fans were not happy with the charging call:
"Awful call in Florida vs Alabama game to foul out Cooper - easy block call - would have cut lead to 4 with 3 min left #EasyCall #AwfulCall
— Tyler Relph (@TylerRelph10) March 12, 2015"
"That might of been the slowest charge anyways ever taken. That legit was in slow mo.
— David (@DaveDoop) March 12, 2015"
Cooper had 13 points, while Jimmie Taylor and Levi Randolph led Alabama with 15 each. Perhaps the most significant problem for the Tide was their bench production—or should I say, their complete lack thereof. All 61 Alabama points were scored by the starting five.
It's also worth noting their struggle to defend Florida's Dorian Finney-Smith, who led the game with 23 points and 11 rebounds—six of which were offensive. The junior forward's performance was well above his 13.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per-game averages.
Florida advances to play the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats Friday at 1 p.m. ET. in Nashville. This will be their third meeting this season, which according to one fan, could be the key:
"Florida gets another shot at Kentucky tomorrow!!!! Third time's the charm!
— Kyle Schrader (@KyleSchrader3) March 12, 2015"
