Recap
Higgins provided the highlight of the early session. The Scot won what he called a "scrappy match" with a break of 136, according to WorldSnooker.com.

The same report revealed how that clearance was the highest break during the tournament's preliminary stages. Higgins is playing with real swagger and on this form has to be considered a favourite.
But Higgins and the rest of the players in Mumbai would be wise to keep a close eye on Brecel. He made light work of a vastly more experienced opponent. Brecel beat Irishman Fergal O'Brien, taking the match 4-2.
Still just 20, Brecel has been garnering praise from some of the game's more illustrious figures. Among them is former world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan.
Writing for Eurosport, O'Sullivan described Brecel as a player with a "great snooker brain." The cerebral and precocious young talent appears set for big things after the latest demonstration of his skill.

But despite the hype, Brecel is sure to be tested by Thailand's Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in the next round. He was pushed all the way by one of the sport's former teen sensations, Ding Junhui.
But Un-Nooh survived to claim one of the closest matches of the day's session.
His match with Brecel should be one of the highlights of Round 2. So will Higgins' meeting with another tricky opponent, Englishman Jamie Cope.
