The 2015 Indian Open got underway on Tuesday as the elite of the snooker community descended upon Mumbai's Grand Hyatt looking to take home the top prize of £50,000.
The day began with some early controversy after BBC Sport reported that big names Ali Carter and Marco Fu would be unable to compete in the tournament, having failed to secure visas for their travels.
That didn't stop the first-round entertainment, however, as the likes of Judd Trump, Peter Ebdon, Mark Williams and many more esteemed figures of the sport got their tournaments off with a winning start.

Tuesday Recap
After it was revealed on Tuesday that Fu and Carter would be absent from this week's Indian Open due to their visa issues, prospective opponents Stuart Carrington and Mark Joyce took their walkover victories into the second round.
Carrington and Joyce will face Li Hang and Lyu Haotian in the round of 32, the two Chinese participants having each claimed 4-3 wins over Allan Taylor and Lilly Dharminder, respectively.

It was also a positive start to proceedings for world No. 6 Trump, who ran to a 4-2 victory over Peter Lines, but revealed some concerning news in the wake of his win.
Speaking to the official World Snooker Twitter account, Trump confirmed that a shoulder injury may force him to retire from the Indian Open altogether, despite being among the tournament favourites:
It was clear Trump meant business from the beginning against Lines, earning a break of 97 to take the first frame by a landslide.
The likes of Ebdon and Williams will consider Trump's injury good news as far as their competition hopes go, with the British pair set to clash in the second round after beating Zhou Yuelong and Eden Sharaz on Tuesday.
Ebdon's victory was deserved after he registered the only two 50-plus breaks of his encounter against Yuelong en route to a 4-2 win, Williams matching that result against Sharaz despite managing a highest break of just 63.

Of India's six wild-card hopefuls, not one could make their way into the 64-player tournament on Tuesday as visitors from England, China, Thailand and Scotland ensured their contest hopes ended before even reaching the first hurdle.
Devon native Sam Baird defeated Brijesh Damani 4-1 after losing the opening frame of his wild-card contest, with Damani ruing his lost opportunity, per the Indo Asian News Service (h/t NDTV Sports):
"This is something we must learn from these professionals. They punish us every time we make a mistake and score big points. I had my chances after winning the first frame, but an error in the second was the turning point as he came up with good breaks and took the match away from me."

Trump is poised to face the victor of Gary Wilson and Adam Duffy's Wednesday encounter in the next round, but there will be some anticipation before then as to what the 25-year-old decides is best for his shoulder.
Until then, the Indian Open waits upon the announcement in the hopes that the tournament won't lose another high-profile competitor this week.
