Key Components Firing at the Right Time for India
Ireland put up a decent fight against India, but Duncan Fletcher's side have hit their stride quickly. There's a consistency about the Pool B-topping team, an inevitability that if their bowlers don't blitz through the opposition, the batting order will make up the ground.
Mohammed Shami is beginning to make quite an impression. He finished with figures of 3-41 on Tuesday, adding to his excellent 3-35 against West Indies on Friday. His pace is currently leading India's assault, and after five matches he has pushed himself one short of New Zealand's Tim Southee and Trent Boult in the overall wicket-taking charts.
Shami's 12 wickets have also been backed up by a useful economy rate of 4.14. He's conceded 141 in 34.0 overs for the tournament, but with the likes of Ravindra Jadeja (1-45) and Mohit Sharma (1-38) struggling to gain momentum against the Irish, Shami underlined his leadership qualities. He eventually ended Ireland's innings, per the ICC:
"OUT! Shami strikes and India finish the innings very strongly to restrict #Ire to 259 All Out http://t.co/9BZuPvHq0C pic.twitter.com/3cx3qzAM6m
— ICC (@ICC) March 10, 2015"
The same can be said of Shikhar Dhawan, whose ton ensured India could go about their batting calmly and with confidence. He hit 100 from 84 balls, and his 16 boundaries and ability to protect the wicket kept Ireland searching for a breakthrough. Dhawan's 174-run partnership with Rohit Sharma (64) ended Ireland's hopes in humbling fashion.
To back them up, Virat Kohli (44) and Ajinkya Rahane (33) were ready to round off the 260-run chase. Kohli finished the tie in excellent style, per Sky Sports:

— Sky Sports Cricket (@SkyCricket) March 10, 2015"
Key players are performing during an important run for India. With Pool B wrapped up, this is the perfect opportunity for the team to take it easy in their final group match against Zimbabwe before making a run through the tournament. India are proving themselves a well-rounded, responsible side on the big stage, perhaps ominously for their opponents.
