Tomasson also spoke with Johnson's agent, Bardia Ghahremani, who commented that Johnson's desire was always to remain in Minnesota:
The 30-year-old is coming off of the best season of his career. Johnson had 6.5 sacks, triple his previous best output, despite making only two starts in 2014. Pro Football Focus ranked Johnson the Vikings' best interior pass-rusher, crediting him with 30 pressures in 301 pass-rush snaps.
Master Tesfatsion of the Star Tribune in Minneapolis believes re-signing Johnson benefits all parties involved:
Given the fact he's made two starts over his four-year career, it's doubtful that his role on the Vikings will be demonstrably bigger than it was last year.
However, he proved how important he can be in a limited capacity and will continue providing great depth to the Minnesota defensive line.
