Tyson Alualu Re-Signs with Jaguars: Latest Contract Details, Comments, Reaction
The Jacksonville Jaguars and defensive end Tyson Alualu have reportedly agreed to a contract that will keep the 27-year-old with the only franchise he's ever known for the next two years.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jaguars prevented Alualu from getting too deep into negotiations with other teams by giving him a two-year contract:

In 2010, the Jaguars surprised most people by taking Alualu with the 10th overall pick. He was a well-regarded prospect coming out of California, but no one seemed to think a team would take him that high.
Over the last five years in Jacksonville, Alualu has recorded 195 total tackles with 13 sacks. A deeper dive into the numbers, per Nathan Jahnke of Pro Football Focus, shows the 27-year-old has gotten better as a run-stopper:
While those certainly aren't the numbers of an All-Pro player, at least it shows Alualu is developing a better skill set. He may never live up to the hype that comes with being a top-10 pick, but the Jaguars aren't committing to him long term and mortgaging their future to re-sign him.
As long as Alualu continues to improve against the run, to the point where he can be called average, and is able to help put pressure on the quarterback, Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley will be very happy to have the veteran defensive end back.
