Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Major Rumours on Jose Mourinho's Next Targets
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will apparently pull out all the stops to sign Paul Pogba ahead of La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid as well as Ligue 1 moneybags Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Speaking of PSG, one player Mourinho won't be able to poach from Chelsea's UEFA Champions League last-16 opponent is striker Edinson Cavani. Here are the latest major rumours concerning Mourinho's proposed next targets.
Beginning with Pogba, the Blues will pursue a deal for the Juventus midfield warrior "at all costs," according to Spanish publication Sport (h/t Sport Witness). Finding a spot for Pogba may not seem easy given Chelsea's current riches in midfield.

Mourinho's squad boasts destructive talisman Nemanja Matic and creative worker bee Cesc Fabregas. There's also Brazilian duo Ramires and Oscar vying for playing time.
But even with options of that calibre, Chelsea would welcome Pogba. It's not unreasonable to suggest every top club in Europe would make room for the outrageously talented France international.
His combination of flair, skill and awesome physical strength makes the 21-year-old close to the complete midfielder. In an age where those who operate in the middle are too often compartmentalised into playmaker or holding roles, Pogba is a midfielder who influences every area of the pitch.
But Chelsea will face fierce competition. According to Le 10 Sport (h/t Daily Star reporter Chisanga Malata), Pogba has already agreed to move to the French capital next season.
That rumour has coincided with suggestions that current PSG midfield workhorse Blaise Matuidi wants to join a Premier League club at the end of this season, per Mirror writer Adrian Kajumba.
His exit would certainly create space for Pogba.
Of course, Chelsea are one of the few clubs in world football who can credibly try to compete with the riches backing up PSG. But the question is, should the Stamford Bridge club even bother considering Pogba is hardly a pressing need?
Neither is Cavani, which is why Mourinho ought to be unmoved by reports the Uruguayan attacker will join Spain's Atletico Madrid and snub Premier League suitors. That's according to Daily Star reporter Jamie Anderson.
Cavani's a talent, but he hardly makes sense for Chelsea—not when ex-Atleti man Diego Costa leads the line so well.
Costa thrives because he's the archetypal lone front man in a team geared to create chances for him. That's what Cavani needs, especially since he's hardly enjoyed sharing the Paris spotlight with fellow striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Chelsea isn't Cavani's best landing spot, and Mourinho would be better served looking for a younger, cheaper alternative willing to learn behind Costa.
It's not uncommon to see Chelsea linked with a host of Europe's biggest names. But the Premier League leaders are likely to be a little less obvious once the summer market rolls around.
