
Man United Fans to Bring Back 1970s-Style Flags for FA Cup Tie with Arsenal
Manchester United and Arsenal played out one of the greatest FA Cup finals of all time back in 1979, and despite losing that game 3-2, United are hoping to recreate its retro feel when the sides do battle on Monday night.
Fan groups got in touch with the club asking if they could implement a "flag day" for the occasion, and United not only gave the idea the okay, they have also said they will provide flagpoles for those who don't have them.

They said, as per their official website:
"Manchester United supporters are looking to bring back some of the flavour of 1970s Old Trafford for Monday's FA Cup quarter-final against Arsenal, by encouraging all those coming to the game to bring along flags and banners.
Fan groups have been in touch with the club requesting a ‘flag day’ for the home tie against the Gunners, with the idea being to enhance what will undoubtedly be a noisy atmosphere with a touch of ‘old school’ colour.
"
According to the Manchester Evening News, the "two-stick flags" that were prominent in the '70s are being particularly encouraged.

United played in three FA Cup finals between 1976 and 1979, beating Liverpool in the 1977 edition.
