India vs. West Indies: Date, Live Stream, TV Info, Cricket World Cup Preview

Rory MarsdenMar 4, 2015

Defending champions India have been the form team so far at the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, winning every one of their group matches to this point.

Only co-hosts New Zealand can boast a similarly perfect record as the latter stages of the pools move forward.

Having come into the tournament in sketchy form, India have looked impressive since the start of proceedings and will be hoping to make it four wins from four when they face an inconsistent West Indies side in Perth on Friday.

The West Indies need to banish all thoughts of their 257-run drubbing by South Africa if they are to pick up what would be an invaluable win against India at the WACA on Friday.

AB de Villiers blasted the Windies bowlers all over the park in Sydney, particularly skipper Jason Holder, per The Sunday Times' Simon Wilde, and there can be no repeat in Perth:

While De Villiers' was a special knock—162 in 66 balls—and unlikely to be repeated soon, India have a batting lineup capable of punishing poor bowling with the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli in impressive form.

The reigning champions smashed the well-fancied Proteas by 130 runs early in the World Cup and are clearly firing on all cylinders despite pre-tournament concerns.

While India are all but guaranteed passage to the last eight, there will be no slacking off from MS Dhoni's side as it looks to assure top spot in Pool B and a likely easier opponent in the quarter-finals.

West Indies, on the other hand, are set for an intriguing battle with Ireland, Zimbabwe and Pakistan to see who advances to the first knockout round.

A victory over India would be a huge boost for the Windies' cause. They are likely to pick up a win in their final match over UAE.

However, they will need all of their star men to be on top form if they are to come close to beating a fine Indian side.

The West Indies have blown hot and cold so far in the tournament, losing to Ireland in their opener ahead of victories over Pakistan and Zimbabwe.

Similarly, main man Chris Gayle found his form in some style against Zimbabwe as he scored an unprecedented World Cup double century before failing against South Africa, cricket writer Freddie Wilde illustrating the left-hander's erratic form perfectly:

While Holder's bowling figures were poor against the Proteas, the young captain showed great poise to pick up his first ODI 50 in hopeless circumstances, and his influence could be key against India.

The West Indies have scored more than 300 three times in the World Cup so far, and they certainly have a destructive batting lineup with Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons and Darren Sammy all capable of scoring big.

In Ravi Ashwin, Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma, though, India have the bowling nous to restrict the Windies' big hitters.

If the West Indies can't score heavily, they will have little chance of beating India considering their weak bowling unit, and it will simply end up being a case of restricting the damage to their net run rate.

However, there is definite talent in the Windies side, and although India are certainly favourites, a destructive batting performance could set the scene for an upset in Perth on Friday.
