Aubrey Huff's Deal to the Detroit Tigers Could Lead to Brandon Snyder's Call Up
As the 2009 season is getting closer to its end, it's safe to say that the Baltimore Orioles went through a transition period this season. Many of the top prospects within the organization have gotten called up to the major league club.
Some took awhile to make their leaps and bounds. Others found success at the major league level very quickly.
But there hasn't been a call up since the young Brian Matusz came in late-July. This leads me to believe that Director of Baseball Operations/GM Andy MacPhail must have some move up his sleeve, as it has been too quiet in Birdland.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
MacPhail's recent acquisition could lead to another top prospect getting the call up.
The Baltimore Orioles dealt first baseman Aubrey Huff to the Detroit Tigers for prospect Brett Jacobson.
It was a tough decision to make, especially since Huff was a veteran leader within the clubhouse, helping young players such as Adam Jones and Matt Wieters to be themselves.
There has been speculation that Huff will re-sign with the O's in the offseason, if Baltimore even wants to go that route.
Yet, what has not been talked about within the Orioles organization, or the media for that matter, is the possible call up of first base prospect Brandon Snyder.
Selected in 2005 as a catcher, Snyder was moved over to first base, where he has panned out.
Though he hasn't been as quick through the minors as fellow friends Brian Matusz, Chris Tillman, and Matt Wieters, at age 23 he is going to be seeing major league action soon—very soon.
After putting up great numbers in AA Bowie, Snyder was called up to AAA Norfolk, where it took some adjustments for him to settle in.
Snyder has stumbled a bit in the past month when talking to scouts. But will Baltimore take the same approach as they did with Wieters?
If you recall, Matt Wieters wasn't so hot when he came up to AAA, and put up some solid numbers. But over the course of his final 15 games in the minors, he tore up the baseball, earning his call up.
In his last 10 games, Snyder is hitting a solid .324, with no home runs and four RBI.
The decision on Snyder's call up could go either way. With the rosters soon to be expanding in September, I could see Andy giving him the call up to fill the void at first base, so Snyder can get an early start on his MLB career.
Or the front office can let Snyder play the rest of the year in the minor leagues, which could be a good option for him.
That option guarantees Brandon Snyder will be in an Orioles uniform at the beginning of 2010.
