Manchester United Transfer News: Louis Van Gaal Set for Talks with 10 Players
Louis van Gaal and the Manchester United board are set to discuss the future of 10 Red Devils squad members as contracts trudge toward expiry at Old Trafford.
As reported by Mark Ogden of The Telegraph, the likes of Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao, David De Gea and Rafael are likely to face inspection.
Jorge Mendes, De Gea's agent, recently told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser (h/t London Evening Standard) that he is "negotiating" a contract renewal for the goalkeeper, who continues to be linked with a mega-money move to Real Madrid.

De Gea's current deal expires at the end of next season, so locking him in will ensure United receive top whack if he does decide to move on.
Samuel Stevens of The Independent suggested the club tried to sign Keylor Navas before Madrid snatched him during the summer, and indeed, prior to Victor Valdes heading to the Theatre of Dreams. Such interest in other players highlights why Anders Lindegaard is "likely to be sold," per Ogden.
It's debatable whether the club will ask Van Persie—who continues to suffer with poor form—to commit. He will be 32 by the time next season begins and could grab United a few million in the transfer market if he's sold soon.

"Falcao is struggling to convince that he merits a permanent move when his loan from Monaco expires in May," per Ogden. Football writer Sam Pilger suggests the Colombian has been given a last opportunity to impress, however:
It is suggested Van Gaal will "look to sell" Javier Hernandez if Madrid don't turn his loan into a permanent deal, noted by Ogden.
United fans will hardly be surprised to hear Jonny Evans is "most at risk" of being pushed through the door out of the club's central defenders. The Northern Irishman's usually calm influence has diminished this season and he continues to be run ragged in the heart of a poor back line. While Chris Smalling and Phil Jones' performances can hardly be celebrated, they still have time to develop.
B/R UK's Sam Tighe doesn't believe Evans deserves to make it into United's best 11:
Ogden suggests United "will listen to offers" for Rafael, who has failed to establish a run in the first team under Van Gaal.
Into midfield, Ogden believes Tom Cleverley is as good as gone after his loan spell with Aston Villa concludes, while Michael Carrick and Ashley Young are likely to be rewarded with extensions.
Carrick remains a key component of the side when fit—no other midfielder can mop up and distribute the ball like him in United's squad—while Young has performed admirably since Van Gaal converted him to an attacking wing-back.
It certainly appears as if United are approaching a third successive summer of change. The club has struggled since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure in 2013, with a huge turnover of players making their way through Old Trafford's revolving doors. If speculation is to be believed, Van Gaal is looking to continue this theme during his second summer at the club.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether the Dutchman will still be in a job when the market opens. Should United fail to qualify for the Champions League—a likely possibility considering the side are only one point clear in fourth ahead of a testing Premier League run—Van Gaal's longevity will certainly be tested.
