USMNT Watch: Bobby Wood Delivers Brace for New Club in Germany
With the latest United States men's national team camp in the rear-view mirror, the focus has shifted to who will be selected for the friendlies against Denmark and Switzerland.
The Yanks don't face Denmark in Aarhus until March 25, but plenty of players are making sure their names are known well ahead of the roster selection deadline.
The majority of the exciting action produced by players in the USMNT talent pool this weekend came from Germany, which is where we begin this week's USMNT watch.

Bobby Wood Nets Brace For New Club
Bobby Wood has been a fixture in the last few USMNT camps, but he has so far failed to deliver an inspiring performance up top for the Yanks.
That may change if he continues to score for Erzgebirge Aue in the 2.Bundesliga. In Friday's 3-2 over Fortuna Dusseldorf, Wood netted two of his side's three goals.
Both of Wood's goals, which can be seen below in a tweet from U.S. Soccer, saw the player convert on opportunities right in front of the net.
His two-goal tally at Erzgebirge Aue is one fewer than the total he recorded in 50 games at 1860 Munich, per Soccer over There:
Another player to keep an eye on in Germany is Andrew Wooten, who netted a brace for Sandhausen in the club's win over Ingolstadt in the German second division. Alfredo Morales, who earned a spot in the USMNT camp recently, played 81 minutes for Ingolstadt.
In the top flight, Timothy Chandler earned an assist on Lucas Piazon's game-winning goal for Eintracht Frankfurt.
Fabian Johnson did not make an appearance for Borussia Monchengladbach, while Julian Green's situation at Hamburg took another unfortunate twist. The winger was sent down to the club's under-23 side and refused to accept the demotion, which may result in a fine.
Mixed Fortunes in FA Cup for Danny Williams and Geoff Cameron
Danny Williams and Reading stayed alive in the FA Cup Saturday with a 2-1 win over fellow Championship side Derby County.
A week after scoring an important game-winner in league action, Williams started in the fifth-round victory for the Royals.
By the end of the extended weekend in England, Reading will learn their fate for the quarterfinal round of the competition.
On the opposite end of the spectrum was Geoff Cameron, who received a red card in Stoke City's 4-1 defeat against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Brad Guzan and Aston Villa will look to right the ship and earn a spot in the final eight with a win over Leicester City in one of the three FA Cup games on Sunday.
Rest of England-Based Players Compete in League
Some of the top Americans in England did not take part in the FA Cup this weekend, but they did feature in league play for their respective sides.
Tim Ream started for Bolton Wanderers in defense Saturday, but the Trotters fell 4-3 to Watford at home. The former New York Red Bulls defender also featured in the club's 3-1 win over Fulham on Tuesday.
Eric Lichaj played 90 minutes for Nottingham Forest in a thrilling 4-4 draw with Blackpool on Saturday. He also started in the 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic Wednesday.

Oguchi Onyewu did not play for Charlton Athletic in their 3-0 win over Brentford, while Jonathan Spector played 90 minutes for Birmingham City in a 1-0 loss to Millwall Tuesday.
In the Premier League, Tim Howard returned to action between the pipes for Everton against Chelsea on Wednesday. He produced six saves, but the Toffees fell to the Blues on an 89th-minute goal scored by Willian.

Success South of the Border for a Few Players
A few positive results were earned in Mexico by defenders in the USMNT talent pool this weekend.
Greg Garza started in Club Tijuana's 3-0 win over Pumas on Friday night, and Michael Orozco played the full 90 in Puebla's 2-0 win over Monterrey.
The only USMNT defender not to earn three points south of the border this weekend was Edgar Castillo, who played 81 minutes for Atlas in their 3-1 loss to Pachuca.
Garza and Xolos are one point behind Cruz Azul in the Clausura table, while Puebla's win was a key one in the relegation battle.
News and Notes
Alejandro Bedoya played the entire match for Nantes in Ligue 1 Saturday. The 2-0 defeat to Bastia extended the side's winless streak in league action to six matches.
Aron Johannsson missed his second consecutive match with an ankle injury. Without him in the fold, AZ Alkmaar fell to PSV Eindhoven, 4-2, at home.
Defender A.J. Soares, who played with the New England Revolution in 2014, is currently on trial at Viking in Norway, per MLSSoccer.com, after spending a few days training with Bob Bradley's Stabaek.
Christian Pulisic trained with Borussia Dortmund's first team for the first time this week, and he has received plenty of kind words from manager Jurgen Klopp, per ESPN FC.
