Manchester United Transfer News: Paul Pogba and Hugo Lloris Rumours Emerge

Rob BlanchetteFeb 10, 2015

Manchester United are said to be preparing a huge wage deal in order to lure Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford.

Alex Harris of the Daily Star reports Louis van Gaal is set to offer the French superstar £155,000 a week to get the midfielder to sign back with the club he left in 2012.

It was only four months ago Pogba signed a new deal with current club Juventus, thought to be worth £70,000 per week, but Harris says the Italian press believe the Red Devils will shatter this figure.

And Pogba's agent has once again spoken about the market value of his client in an interview with Telefoot.

Rupert Fryer of Goal.com quotes Mino Raiola saying Pogba is the "Mona Lisa" in terms of his uniqueness and value, and any potential transfer will break existing records:

"

As of today, there is no 21-year-old who shows that he can take charge of a team at the highest level the way that Pogba does. Paul does that with Juve and France. You don’t need to be Einstein to see that he can play in for very best teams.

If the summer is the right time for a move, then we will seize the opportunity. But if he wants to, he could stay one more year. He will beat Ronaldo’s transfer record, because there can be only one Mona Lisa.

"

Pogba has once again impressed in the shirt of the Old Lady as he struts his ability around the stadiums of Serie A. His record also remains strong as in previous campaigns, scoring six times from 18 Italian league starts, with Juve ahead of the pack, as they have been every season in recent memory.

Another factor which could attract Pogba back to Manchester is his brother's recent transfer back to English football from Italian team Pescara.

Mathias Pogba has joined Crawley Town until the end of the season, as the striker bases himself on English shores, having previously played for Wrexham when his younger brother was at United. Crawley recently confirmed the move and welcomed the player:

Juve legend Alessandro Del Piero also thinks Pogba's time at Juventus will soon come to an end and hints it is difficult for the Turin club to hold on to such a talent, per Harris:

"

Pogba is turning out to be a player who has a great future ahead of him. It is obvious that he will cost a lot and it is also normal that people want him at their clubs. The leaders know what to do, but in situations like this it is difficult for them to keep a player like him at the club.

"

In other news, the Mirror says United will turn to Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris if they lose David de Gea in the summer.

The newspaper believe the Frenchman has been "on United's radar" since he signed for Spurs and will make their move if De Gea opts to return to his Madrid hometown in Spain.

However, the world-class goalie has recently signed a five-year contract with the north London giants, significantly increasing his value, per the Mirror.

Lloris would be a very competent replacement for De Gea if the worst were to happen for United, having excellent EPL experience under his belt already and international recognition in the game.

He has helped Spurs greatly this term and has proved to be one of their prime assets as they search for a Champions League top-four finish.

The wage to lure Pogba may sound large, but for a player of his ability, it will turn out to be incredible value.

United made a mess three years ago when they failed to tie him to a long-term contract and give him the playing time he richly deserved.

Now they will have to pay a premium to capture him again, but a footballer of his potential and ability is certainly worth the financial risk.
