Bogut's Injury Latest In Long Career of Ailments
Bogut's injury issues are well-documented, as he hasn't played all 82 games in a season since his rookie campaign with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2005-06. In fact, he hasn't even played 70 games during a single campaign since appearing in 78 back in 2007-08.
No matter what he does, bad luck always seems to rear its ugly head as it relates to Bogut and injuries.
He has missed 15 games in each of the past two seasons and was hampered by knee issues during the 2014-15 campaign. Per Diamond Leung of Bay Area News Group, the 7-foot Aussie used platelet-rich plasma therapy to get himself healthy for the playoffs.
While Bogut's numbers didn't jump off the page in last year's regular season or postseason, he was a key figure for a Warriors team that went on to win the championship, since he was one of the only true bigs on the roster.
He averaged just over six points and eight rebounds per game last season, and he fills a role as a rim protector on defense and a great facilitator on offense. But Bogut simply isn't a focal point on a team that leans heavily on guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
In an effort to keep pace in the Dubs' explosive offense and decrease injury risk, however, Bogut dropped some weight during the offseason, according to Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle:
While that may prove to be a sound decision in the long run, Bogut has been bitten by the injury bug once again. If any team is equipped to handle it, though, it is Golden State.
The Warriors have proved that they can still perform at an elite level without Bogut's services, but they'll be better off with him in the lineup due to the manner in which he bolsters Golden State's presence in the paint.
