Carroll Off Crutches, Recovery 'Going Well'

Stijn Vandenbroucke, head of medical and sports science at the club, has confirmed Carroll is making good progress along the road to recovery. Vandenbroucke wrote the following in his recent injury round-up on the Hammers' official website:
"Andy Carroll no longer needs crutches to walk and now only has a brace on the knee he injured against Southampton on 11 February. Andy is still limited, but from Tuesday this week we significantly increased his rehab and are able to do a wider variety exercises. Andy’s rehab is going well and everything is still on schedule.
"

West Ham previously announced that Carroll would miss the rest of the season due to surgery on his injured knee:
"Andy Carroll will have surgery on his injured knee on Tuesday following assessment by a specialist on Friday afternoon.
The England international injured his left knee during the second half of Wednesday night's 0-0 Barclays Premier League draw at Southampton.
The recovery phase is expected to keep Carroll out for the remainder of the 2014/15 season.

On Feb. 12, John Percy of The Telegraph reported that Carroll's knee injury could see him out six weeks, but the injury was clearly more serious than initially thought.
Sam Allardyce Comments on Carroll Injury

BBC Sport reported Allardyce's comments on the recurrence of Carroll's knee problem:
"He got kicked in the back of the knee and felt something wrong. It's going to take longer (to get fit) this time because it's the same injury (he suffered against Liverpool). He stayed up and was a nuisance. I just hope that staying on hasn't done any more damage.
"
