Top 5 Performances in the Big Bash 2015
After what feels like years, the Big Bash is finally over. It ended with a victory for Perth Scorchers, who claimed a four-wicket win over the Sydney Sixers. There have been thrills, there have been spills and there have been plenty of exciting performances. In no particular order, here are some of the top performances of this season’s tournament. Add the moments we missed out on in the comments.
1. Jacques Kallis 97* vs. Brisbane Heat
1 of 5
Old, but not cold, Jacques Kallis showed that he's still got it when he hit a blistering 97 off 55 balls against Brisbane Heat.
His effort, along with an equally impressive 96 off 60 from Michael Hussey, helped Sydney Thunder post 208 in 20 overs.
It was enough to help his side to a 56-run win. Their 160-run stand was the highest of the tournament for any wicket—quite an effort from two of the tournament’s old boys.
2. Brett Lee on a Hat-Trick in the Final
2 of 5
Brett Lee finished his cricket career by taking consecutive wickets.
Two wickets from two of his last few balls in the final over wasn't enough to help Sydney Sixers to a win, but it was impressive enough to ensure that the end of his career remains memorable.
Lee finished the tournament with 13 wickets at an average of 41.46 and an economy rate of 7.15.
3. Jake Reed 4-11 vs. Sydney Thunder
3 of 5
In only his third ever T20 match, Jake Reed stole the show when he finished with figures of 4-0-11-4 against the Sydney Thunder.
His effort saw the Thunder restricted for 77, with Hobart Hurricanes winning by five wickets on the Duckworth-Lewis.
It showed that, contrary to popular belief, T20 is not always just a batsman’s game. Reed took eight wickets at an average of 14.25 in the five games he played in the tournament and is definitely one to watch in the future.
4. Shakib Al Hasan 4-13 vs. Brisbane Heat
4 of 5
Shakib Al Hasan is another bowler who proved that T20 isn’t just for the batsmen.
He finished with figures of 4-0-13-4 against the Brisbane Heat. The Heat were restricted to 80 runs, but it wasn't smooth sailing for Melbourne Renegades. They stuttered to a five-wicket win, getting to the total in 14 overs.
5. Michael Klinger 105* vs Melbourne Renegades
5 of 5
Michael Klinger is another old boy who showed the young ones how it's done. He was one of just two players to score a hundred during the tournament and topped the run-scoring charts with 326 runs at an average of 36.22.
His unbeaten 105 against the Melbourne Renegades came off just 60 balls and was enough to lift Perth Scorchers to 192 in their 20 overs and subsequently a 35-run win.
