Which Pac-12 Team Has Best Shot to Land 4-Star ATH Jaylinn Hawkins?

California 4-star wide receiver Jaylinn Hawkins is expected to stay on the West Coast when he makes his announcement on national signing day. Further, he is expected to sign with a Pac-12 school.

Wednesday is around the corner, and Hawkins has taken all of his official visits. Now it's time to finalize his future with a commitment and a signing.

Hawkins, according to 247Sports' Ryan Bartow, has Arizona State, California, Utah, Washington and Oregon in his top five. Hawkins has taken official visits to Utah (weekend of Sept. 26), Washington (Nov. 7), Arizona State (Dec. 12), Boise State (Jan. 16) and Cal (Jan. 23).

With two days remaining until signing day, Hawkins has done well to keep his opinions close to the vest. The 247Sports Crystal Ball has the wide receiver committed to Arizona State, and if that becomes a reality, Hawkins will be a quality get for Todd Graham and his Sun Devils coaching staff.

Arizona State has 19 commitments in the 2015 class, and the team is still looking for its first true wide receiver pledge.

Arizona State has three players committed as an athlete in 4-star Stanley Norman, 4-star Jaason Lewis and 3-star Morie Evans. Norman is projected to play in the secondary, Lewis is a jumbo back who could either be a running back or a "3-back" in Graham's system and Evans has a good defensive back skill set, but he may be used more on offense as a receiver.

In short, the Sun Devils could use a receiver or two for its class. Hawkins can be called upon as a leader, someone who could find playing time in an offense that likes to give the ball to its playmakers.

Jaelen Strong was Arizona State's leading receiver in 2014, finishing with 82 receptions for 1,165 yards and 10 touchdowns. He declared for the NFL draft last month, which could be a blessing in disguise for Hawkins, who will be looking for early playing time.

More importantly, Hawkins' family likes Arizona State. Following his visit in December, Hawkins told Rivals' Chris Karpman that he enjoyed the trip and that his family thought "it would be a good place for me."

While Arizona State is considered a favorite, the other schools on his list shouldn't be ignored.

Boise State, the only non-Pac-12 school on his list, may be considered on the outside looking in, but with 19 commitments, it has room to add a 4-star talent. Cal has the advantage of being Hawkins' last official visit. The disadvantage with the Golden Bears, however, may be that of the program's 24 pledges, five are legitimate receiver commits, and four more are committed as athletes.

Both of Washington and Utah should also be considered, as they were Hawkins' first two official visits. Washington has 24 commits, and only two—3-stars Isaiah Renfro and Andre Baccellia—are receivers. Utah may be less of an option, as seven of the Utes' 22 commits are receivers.

In the end, the race for Hawkins could be Arizona State's to lose.
