Super Bowl National Anthem 2015: Updated Odds for Idina Menzel's Rendition
Performing the United States national anthem at the Super Bowl is one of the most important responsibilities a singer can have, and Idina Menzel has been tasked with kicking things off in Glendale, Arizona.
The singer-songwriter and actress has earned that honor in Super Bowl XLIX due in large part to the success of her hit single "Let It Go" from the popular Disney movie Frozen. There will be a great deal of pressure on Menzel to deliver, and viewers will be able to place bets on her performance.
Not only are there prop bets available for the length of Menzel's rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner," but bettors can also wager on whether the 43-year-old musician will perform it to perfection.

Idina Menzel Prop Bets
National Anthem Length
| Over 2 minutes, 1 second | 77-100 |
| Under 2 minutes, 1 second | 91-100 |
The great thing about the United States national anthem is that it is open for interpretation. The words are the same regardless of who sings it, but the manner in which it is presented is never the same from one performer to the next.
Because of that, the length of the anthem always varies. That is apparent based on data provided by Odds Shark. Over the past nine Super Bowls, the length has been all over the map. Billy Joel took just one minute and 30 seconds at Super Bowl XLI, but Alicia Keys sang for two minutes and 35 seconds at Super Bowl XLVII.
The line for Sunday is set firmly in the middle at two minutes and one second. For those hoping to get a leg up, there is actually a precedent for the length of Menzel's anthem performance, according to David Barron of the Houston Chronicle:
While Menzel's time of one minute and 59 seconds at the MLB All-Star Game would be an under in the Super Bowl, that doesn't mean that she will repeat the feat. In fact, due to the importance and pageantry of the Super Bowl, one can only assume that Menzel will extend some notes and add a bit more gusto than usual.
If that is the case, then the over is the smart play, especially since the value difference between the two bets isn't significant.
National Anthem Accuracy
| Yes | 4-1 |
| No | 17-100 |
While performing at a big event like the Super Bowl is always important, there is added responsibility when it comes to signing "The Star-Spangled Banner." Not only does it have to be impressive and powerful, but it must also be accurate.
The anthem is a representation of the country, and it can be argued that even the slightest mistake is a poor reflection on the United States. With that said, some viewers will be rooting for Menzel to slip up due to an intriguing prop bet.
This particular one asks if Menzel will forget or omit at least one word. While "no" is the overwhelming favorite, it only takes a momentary lapse for "yes" to come through.
According to Alex Stone of ABC News, Menzel admitted to having some jitters ahead of her big moment:
In addition to that, it can be said that she has a slight history of messing up. Per E. Alex Jung of Vulture.com, Menzel struggled with a note in her performance of "Let It Go" as part of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.
Rather than dwelling on it, though, Menzel tweeted this positive response afterward:
Menzel seems to have the attitude necessary to handle the anthem at the Super Bowl, so the odds are against her making a mess of it. Because of the possible payoff, though, it might be worth placing a small bet on "yes" just in case she falters.
