Juan Cuadrado Transfer Fee 'Agreed' by Chelsea Amid Manchester United Rumours
Jose Mourinho has reportedly given the green light for Chelsea to pay Juan Cuadrado's €35 million buyout clause to secure his transfer before the closure of the January transfer window, reported by Sky Sport Italia (h/t Football Italia).
Football Italia provide the details of what could be the winter's biggest deal:
"The Colombian international recently signed a contract renewal in Florence, but it includes a buy-out clause worth €35m. Fiorentina stated many times that they will only release him if a club comes in to activate that clause. According to Sky Sport Italia this evening, Chelsea have agreed to stump up the cash.

Sky Sport journalist Fabrizio Romano believes the deal rests on Jose Mourinho's call:

Chelsea's alleged agreement could be to combat the rumoured interest of Manchester United. Alex Harris of the Daily Star believes the Red Devils are "planning to offer Adnan Januzaj in part-exchange" for the man who starred at the 2014 World Cup. This seems unlikely, however, after the young Belgian signed a five-year contract in October 2013 and received United's iconic No. 11 shirt at the start of the season.
Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella has suggested any club who agrees to pay Cuadrado's release clause is welcome to the player. "His situation is very easy," Montella told Sky Sports (h/t Harris). "In his contract there is a release clause, and if another team pays this amount he can leave Fiorentina."
Interestingly, French publication Le10 Sport (h/t Squawka) believes Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing Cuadrado. You can see the qualities of the aforementioned player below:
The Viola are said to have already started scouting potential replacements for their versatile winger. Bolton's Lee Chung-Yong is reportedly top of the Italian side's wishlist, per Simon Jones of the MailOnline, although Montella's men will have to oust the suggested interest of Stoke to sign him up.
Serie A specialist David Amoyal outlined another couple of names the Fiorentina board could look at if Cuadrado leaves:
He also suggests that, while Cuadrado's buyout clause is undoubtedly expensive, Chelsea's riches ensure the Stamford Bridge side shouldn't worry about paying up:
B/R UK's Janusz Michallik and Ryan Bailey recently discussed whether Cuadrado would lead Chelsea to silverware:
Cuadrado's a battle-ready, tactically sound player who can slot in on either wing, through the centre or as a full-back. He works hard to make an impression, something Mourinho admires in his players, and could become something of a luxury utility man in west London. He'd also easily fit into United's plans, a team who need strengthening just about everywhere on the pitch.
Neil Ashton of the MailOnline believes Chelsea have agreed to sell Andre Schurrle to fund Cuadrado. This would allow the club to satisfy UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules, potentially making money in the process. Ashton indicates £30 million will get Schurrle out of the club.
Cuadrado's saga is likely to hit a crescendo in the coming days. The transfer window ends on Feb. 2, meaning business needs to happen quickly if he's to finally depart Florence. He'll undoubtedly be missed, but there's been a sense Cuadrado could become a very good Champions League player for quite some time now.
The 26-year-old has the talent to excel at an elite European club, where his versatility is likely to make him extremely popular.
