For those of us who won't be shelling out upwards of $6,500 to watch the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, a party at home with some close friends and great food can be a nice consolation prize if done right.

Chex Mix
Patriotic Chex Mix
Chex Mix has been a versatile comfort food for more than 60 years. It pleases the masses and is rather simple to put together for the host of a Super Bowl gala. If your household will be chock-full of Patriots fans on Feb. 1, Lauren Golden of The Daily Meal has a tasty spin on a classic recipe for your guests.
- Ingredients
- 1 bag of Chex Mix
- 1/4 cup dried blueberries
- 1/4 cup of dried cranberries
- 1/4 cup of roasted sunflower seeds
- 2 cups of white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup of blue and red M&M's
- Instructions
- Combine the Chex Mix, blueberries, cranberries and sunflower seeds in a large bowl.
- Microwave the white chocolate chips for 60-90 seconds or until completely melted.
- Drizzle the white chocolate over the Chex Mix and add the M&M's.
- Let the mix stand at room temperature for one hour.
Seattle Grunge Chex Mix
Don't worry, Seahawks fans—Golden has a delicious Chex Mix recipe for your Super Bowl party as well. While this treat doesn't feature the team's colors, it's an extremely easy party snack that can be put together in five minutes and is named after one of the all-time greatest styles of music.
- Ingredients
- 2 oats and honey granola bars
- 1 bag of peanut butter Chex Mix
- 1/2 cup of dried apple slices cut into bite-size pieces
- 1/4 cup of roasted sunflower nuts
- 1/4 cup of dried blueberries
- Instructions
- Break granola bars down into bite-size pieces, mix all ingredients together and add to a serving receptacle of your choice.
Rice Krispies Treats

Rice Krispies Treats aren't just for kids anymore. Let's face it, most of us have probably been looking for an excuse to eat the gooey snack for most of our adult lives. Well, the Super Bowl is providing that opportunity. Laurie of TwoSistersCrafting.com has a great way to make this treat into your favorite player's jersey.
- Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 2 cups of marshmallows
- 2 cups of Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 box of powdered sugar
- 5 tablespoons of meringue powder
- 1/2 cup of water
- Royal icing
- Red, grey and blue food coloring
- Instructions
- Mix the powdered sugar and meringue powder while slowly adding water to make the Royal icing. Separate the icing in thirds and add the red food coloring to one, the blue to another and leave the rest white.
- Melt the butter in a pan and add the marshmallows on low heat. Once melted, add the blue food coloring and mix in the Rice Krispies cereal.
- Mold the mixture into a jersey shape or use a T-shirt cookie cutter for precision and let it cool.
- Add the grey, red and white icing to mimic the jersey's style.
Seahawks Rice Krispie Jerseys
Seahawks fans are known to comprise one of the most loyal fanbases in the NFL known as the 12s. There may not be a better way to show your pride during the Super Bowl than to have a plethora of Rice Krispie 12 jerseys available for your guests. Here's a look at Laurie's recipe.
- Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 2 cups of marshmallows
- 2 cups of Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 box of powdered sugar
- 5 tablespoons of meringue powder
- 1/2 cup of water
- Royal icing
- Leaf green and blue food coloring
- Instructions
- Make the Royal icing by combining the powdered sugar and meringue powder while slowly adding water. Separate the icing in halves and add the leaf green coloring to one and leave the rest white.

- Finish off the jersey's design by adding the green and white icing.
