Information
The Valor and Victors 5K is a part of the Arizona Super Bowl Run Series and the partner race of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee 4.9K Fun Run, which was held in December. The highlights from that race can be found above.
The Valor and Victors is particularly cool, however, as NFL alumni join in the race, and the proceeds benefit the Pat Tillman Foundation.
"We at the NFL Alumni are a family, and Pat Tillman will always be a member of that family," Joe Pisarcik, President and CEO of the NFLA, said in a statement via PR Newswire. "Pat's bravery, selflessness and natural leadership qualities are all part of his legacy. We are honored to partner with the Pat Tillman Foundation to support military veterans and spouses who are carrying on Pat's legacy."
Both before the race and after, runners will be able to mingle with the NFL alumni and other runners in the event's tailgate. Before the race, that will include snacks and music, while it will include food and a Super Bowl celebration after the run in anticipation of the big event.
With most folks settling in for a night of beer, wings and other assorted finger foods or lavish meals, the idea of a run before America's football holiday doesn't sound so bad. It's a bit easier to justify pigging out on game day after you've run a 5K race the day before, right?
Regardless, the event is for an excellent cause and one of the highlights of the lead-up to the Super Bowl.
