Chelsea Transfer News: Andre Schurrle Exit Rumours, Juan Cuadrado Talks Underway
Chelsea's attacking merry-go-round could be poised to spin once again this winter after reports emerged the Blues have opened talks to sign Juan Cuadrado. But Andre Schurrle may need to be moved on first.
World Cup-winner Schurrle has struggled to dethrone Eden Hazard, Willian and Oscar in Jose Mourinho's lineup, but Anthony Chapman of the Express writes the Wolves are ready to splash £27.5 million on his services.

The report coincides with news that Chelsea have started negotiations with La Viola regarding Cuadrado's switch, with Dominic Fifield of The Guardian reporting the Italians won't accept a figure less than his £26.8 million (€35 million) release clause.
The English titans are some way off that estimation as of yet, though, with Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Montella unfazed by the speculation, per Football Italia: “As of today there is no possibility Cuadrado will leave Fiorentina. He knows that certain things get exaggerated. It’s just idle chatter, he’s pretty accustomed to it.”

Alongside the German international, Mohamed Salah is another struggling to fit on Chelsea's wing, making it unlikely Cuadrado would come before one or both are moved on.
David Amoyal of GianlucaDiMarzio.com reinforces this point, stating that he believes Schurrle would have to be sold first, compliance with Financial Fair Play being another concern for the west Londoners:
Cuadrado was linked to a Premier League switch in the wake of some dazzling performances with Colombia at the 2014 World Cup, but he ended up signing an extension with Fiorentina when no move materialised.
Bleacher Report's Andy Brassell has weighed up all the positives and negatives of a Schurrle departure in order to finance Cuadrado's capture:
It was only last year that Chelsea sold Kevin De Bruyne to Wolfsburg for a fee of £18 million, but it seems the Germans are ready to spend big once again in order to land Schurrle's services.
If Schurrle were to depart Stamford Bridge, it's plausible that a return to his native Germany would be the preferred option for the former Bayer Leverkusen talisman.

Despite failing to emerge as a first-string talent with Chelsea, Schurrle has maintained a reputation as a great talent. After all, a few of the finest wingers in world football are the ones keeping him sidelined.
Some may see the potential swap as a needless changing of player, with no guarantee Cuadrado would cope better with the competition in London. Football writer Samuel Jay C believes the South American would be a welcome addition:
Mourinho appears intent on advancing negotiations with Cuadrado's representatives, but it seems likely a player will have to leave his squad before another can come in.
Latest reports suggest Wolfsburg are willing to help in that regard, with the Blues seemingly closing in on one of the most exciting players to have featured at Brazil 2014.
